We stayed here for 3 nights. The town is tiny but the hotel is still well positioned for a short walk to some excellent restaurants including El Huemul y Maffia & La Tapera, both recommended by the hotel.
Julieta on the front desk was very helpful advising us on weather, best way to approach trails & organising transport to the start of one trail. She also got up early to see us off the day we left, as we had to make a 930am plane from El Calafate, making us coffee with a lovely tea cake.
Unfortunately one day we had gale force winds so couldn't hike, (100km/hr + gusts & snow up in park all day - not uncommon in Spring we were told). However the rooms were very large & well appointed including Cable TV that could be changed to English (very helpful) so we stayed in & relaxed. Breakfast is also nice with a small but lovely selection.

Very nice room - clean, quiet and comfortable. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice with yummy pastries. Since it was very cloudy when we were there, cannot comment about the views but I am sure they would have been spectacular. Cash is needed in El chalten as many places did not accept foreign credit cards. The hotel converted our dollars into pesos at a very fair rate.

The staff were really helpful in planning hikes, checking weather, giving recommends. Julietta on reception was so helpful and lovely to chat to.

The rooms are a little dated, particularly the bathroom, but had big comfy beds and big rooms.

The town is tiny, so you can't really have a bad location, but it was a short walk to restaurants and the start of some hikes.

After reading reviews and seeing photos, I was terrified this place would be booked by the time we'd finalized our Patagonian plans. When i found out that it was still available, I think my heart literally soared :). It looked from the outside exactly as it does in the photos, which puts it way ahead aesthetically than any of the other hotels or properties. The front desk team was WONDERFUL. So knowledgable and so helpful in tolerating my million questions. We basically approached them with no idea how to fully explore the area (and, El Calafate, for that matter) and, after a chat with them, we walked away feeling quite confident that we were seeing exactly what we'd hoped to see down there, including the long day hike to Fitz Roy.

The room was incredible! Comfortable bed, extra large bathroom with a jacuzzi that could have held 6 people, cable tv in the bedroom where I was able to enjoy American shows in English after a day of trekking.

My only wish was that we'd had more time there. We moved on to El Calafate and Puerto Natales (Chile) and were unable to find a hotel that we enjoyed as much. Thank you so much, Chalten Suites, for our favorite Patagonian stay :)

Room Tip: Talk to the knowledgable front desk staff for tips!

El Chalten is a small frontier town near the trails to the Fitz Roy area. Given the location and size of town, we were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Chalten Suites. The hotel team was very friendly and helpful. Good selection for breakfast.
