À 7 minutes walk from THE busstation, Nothofagus b&b offers very clean; good sized rooms. We had à double room and had to share à nice bathroom with à triple room. No complaints. THE breakfast is complete. Coffee / tea brown and white bread; juice/ yoghurtdrink; jam, cheese and ham.
When you arrivé by bus it stops at the rangerstation for 10 minutes and you get a quick explanation about El Chalten and walks. Also you can get some walkplans. Good organised. There is à good choice of restaurants. We tried à few and found Aonikenk (150 m. From THE busstation the best. Mathilde ,a small shop, at the big road, serves very good coffie and all shorts of tea.

This is a clean, basic, friendly B&B in an excellent location in El Chalten. We shared the bathroom and didn't find it inconvenient. Excellent value - I believe they only accept cash. They helped book our bus travel to El Calafate.

Just a general tip for traveling in Argentina - bring as many US dollars as you feel comfortable with because you can often get a 10-15% discount at hotels, restaurants, and shops by paying in dollars. Also, we were only able to get 1000 pesos at a time out of the ATMs (equal to $210) which really racked up the ATM charges. I wished I had known this before. Also, I brought an adaptor which said it would work in South America but it didn't fit the outlet. I suggest bringing your whole set of adaptors to ensure you have the right one (it turns out it was the adaptor labeled with Asian countries that fit the outlet).

We ended up staying at Nothofagus for a week while we waited for some good weather over the Fitzroys. It really couldn't have been better - our room was spotless and nicely decorated, staff were extremly nice and helpful without ever being pushy, breakfast was excellent and there is a lovely breakfast room/communal area with a view of Mount Fitzroy - when it emerges!

Room Tip: We had one of the rooms with a shared bathroom - each bathroom is only shared between 2 rooms so, if you don't mind that, it is excellent value.

In this patchwork town this hostel stands out. Built by the very friendly owners, large, roomy rooms and bathrooms. Lovely views from everywhere. Good location and advice on walks and places to go for a meal. Good value for everything!

Room Tip: we had a 1st floor room going up the staircase to the left.

Very clean and quiet and run in a professional manner. We can see the snowy mountain from the window of the room we stay in a sunny morning. Hot shower. Free hot tea after a long day walk. Staff are very friendly, helpful and informative. Close to bus terminal, just 5 minutes walk. Recommend to anyone visiting El Chalten
