Long day hike - steep section climbing to the vista point. We took a cab part of the way & hike the full way back. It saved on our knees ...

“What a peak”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

While we didn't actually hike or climb it. Just the sheer beauty of this peak is worth the bus ride to El Chalten. We could see it from many of our hikes and boy it is a magnet to the eyes.

“Beautiful formation”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

This is a must see in my opinion. The formation of this rock massif is simply beautiful. We spent 5 days in el chalten, 2 of which were bad weather and we couldn't see much but still enjoyed the national park and the town itself. If you're in Patagonia don't miss out, and if the weather is good use it! Because it can change very quickly.

“Trekking Mecca”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

Unfortunatly my girlfriend and I couldn't make it to the top of Cerro Fitz Roy due to a snow storm. However, we can confirm it's a fantastic trek and more than worth the effort. If you're lucky with the weather and the sky is clear then you're most definitely in for a treat.

Our number one tip is to take a one hour bus ride north from the town to start your trek (any of the hostels will point you in the right direction). From here you can begin the big loop back to town via the base of Fitzroy (and up, if the weather permits). This way you avoid doubling back on yourself for the return journey and see much more. Enjoy!
