“Going the extra mile!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

New, modern small hotel located 5 minutes from the start of the trek to the base of Mount Fitz Roy. It's quite a ways from the bus station, however, so don't do like me and walk all the way there with a briefcase that has no wheels, it's a painfully bad idea : ))

The rooms are very nice and comfy, and as the hotel is new, everything is really modern.

Rooms are also very clean and well-maintained. Wifi signal is excellent.

Not all the front desk staff speaks fluent English, however, but everyone that I encountered was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, regardless of their level of bilingualism. The staff is top notch!

A small anecdote that speaks volumes about this place : I had to get back to the bus station and the front desk tried for a couple of minutes to get a cab (keep in mind that this is a very small town and everyone leaves pretty much at the same time to catch the bus out of town). The owner happened to pass by as the girl at the front desk tried to get me a cab. He gave me a ride to the bus station without asking for anything in return. This is the kind of service and helpfulness that you will get at the Pudulodge!

I really recommend you book this hotel - you will not regret it, especially after coming back down from the base of Mount Fitz Roy : ))

Positive: The staff is really friendly and is trying to do as good as they can!
Negative: The staff isn't really competent. Only one spoke English.
Plus:
The hotel isn't finished yet. Shower curtain fell off. The area around the hotel is partly a construction site.
The room safe was just standing in the shelf without being fixed to anything! Absolutely useless.
Breakfast was mediocre.
When we tried to check out the women said: Not possible, we have to wait for the Boss. Maybe in one hour.
And: This is the last hotel of the town. You can't live farther away than that! This is no big deal, because El Chalten is rather small.

All in all I have to draw the conclusion that alle the five point reviews are hoax.

Could not be handier for the trails as it's 5 minutes to the start of the Fitzroy trek and the nearby waterfall. They also pick you up and drop you off at the bus station. The views through the giant front windows are incredible and the breakfast is great. The staff were great, Martin was very knowledgeable and helpful. 3 minutes from El Muro restaurant which is brill.

We stayed in this small boutique hotel recently and upon check-in found our room of quite a good size with windows that can be opened. Furnishings were basic and cleanliness of room was good. However the single bed sizes were on the small side.

There are restaurants and shops within walking distance and there are also some good hiking trails located behind the hotel. Breakfast options were basic and quite limited. Overall we found this to be a decent basic hotel.

The lodge is basic but warm, clean and cute.
The walk to the town's bakery is 5 mins. El Muro and The Cerveceria, which were our favourite restaurants are both just down the street.
The staff is excellent - very very nice and accomodating, will book you anythign you need.
We did not have problems with noise, other than hearing doors slam as the hikers set off at 5am for the trek. That lasted abotu 5 minutes.
And of course nothing beats the location at the head of the trail, especially at the end of the Fitz Roy hike - you would be glad you did not have to walk any further.

I value great customer service above all else and the staff at Pudulodge excelled in this regard.
My Spanish is limited so it was very helpful they spoke fluent English. They were very friendly and were able to assist me with arranging taxi transportation on short notice. They were also very knowledgeable of the trails around Mont Fitz Roy and were able to answer all my questions to help me plan my hikes.

The hotel is situated on the opposite edge of El Chalten from the bus terminal, near where the trails to Mont Fitz Roy begin. Scenic views.

The rooms were quite nice and the included breakfast in the morning included a nice assortment of items.

Internet access was problematic at times.

The only negative experience I had with the hotel is that I had tried reaching them through email prior to my arrival with some questions and never received a response. I tentatively say this however as you can never been completely certain that email is properly delivered with spam filters and such today. So I am only mentioning it as I highly value hotels that are responsive to email inquires; however, want to point out this does not detract from my overwhelmingly positive experience with the hotel.

Despite the staff being friendly I can not be as positive when it comes to the hotel interior which in my humble opinion has been left to its own devices. First the rooms are not the cleanest, floor and walls dirty, hair dryer did not work had to cadge one from another room. Breakfast was a little too meagre.
