“Best steak I've had in Argentina”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

This is a lovely little restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The food is excellent with a good around of variety. The steak was amazing, very tasty and cooked perfectly. If you make it to el chasten definitely check this place out, it's a near the start of the walk to fits Roy.

“Cosy and delicious food”

Trout was amazing with fresh roast veg. One of the best meals I ate in Argentina. Right at the end of the trails to the north of the town.

“Good Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

This restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel (Destino Sur). It has good food and we enjoyed it. Ask for the menu in English if you can't read Spanish. I had the Lentil Stew which was excellent.

“Great hearty meal.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2013 via mobile

We had decided on two other restaurants on the basis of TA reviews, only to find they had closed by mid April for the winter season.
Therefore, on hotel (Destino Sur) staff recommendation we tried the nearby El Muro and were so satisfied we went back for our second evening in town.
Over the 2 meals we tried the lamb & mushroom lasagne, the lamb stroganoff, the ribs and a mixed salad - all massive serves and very tasty.
All wines and beer options are on display at the front counter, and we tried some nice artisanal beers and an Argentinian Malbec.
Although the waiter did not speak much English (us even less spanish) the menu was offered in English, and we were able to trade brief sentences. As the sole front of house staff member, he did a good job. The owner/chef does an admirable job at serving hearty and tasty meals, especially considering what an isolated part of the world this is.
Go to El Muro accepting that things will be on a bit of a "go slow" mode with only the chef and one helper, and just appreciate what it is for where it is.
