Hosteria Fitz Roy Inn was average accommodation but the town of Chalten is not very nice in our eyes. A town built in the middle of a great national park with dogs everywhere and dust blowing down the street all day with no attempt to tidy up the town is not very appealing. For anyone interested in trekking, I guess this place would be okay. I would suggest staying at a hostel where there are people to talk to.

El Chalten is a gorgeous place to visit in southern Patagonia. Unlike
its majestic namesake, Fitz Roy Mountain, the Fitz Roy Inn is a very
basic fleabag motel. Our room was one of the moldiest/mustiest rooms
I've ever experienced. The bidet leaked, resulting in a thin layer of
water on the floor of the bathroom. Flourescent bulbs, old beds and
bizarre red animal-like print blankets make it a place where you wouldn't
want to spend too much time. Good thing the hiking is amazing so you
don't have to. Staff was fair -- not especially responsive -- and the
breakfast is pretty bleak. The town is very small and easy to walk from
one end to another, and it looks like they're building some newer
lodging within El Chalten, so you should find some better options in the
near future. I definitely recommend a visit to the town (or its
surroundings), but see if you can stay elsewhere.
