“Nice posada with friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2012

Nice posada with clean rooms, good bed and large bathroom. Good breakfast with homemade toast. Friendly staff and good laundry service. Located close to the main street in El Chalten.

This guesthouse was a great find! The breakfast was very good because they served homemade breads and cookies, yogurt and cereal, with good coffee and hot milk. We chose an economical room (with a bunk bed) but every effort was put in to give you plenty of storage space with many shelves and hooks so that you could be organized (which is very important with a long stay). We were on the second floor and from our window we could look out and see the peaks of the Fitz Roy Range which not only was lovely to see early morning or at sunset but helped us to plan which hike to take. The beds were very comfortable, the large white towels were good, and the shower had very hot water and great pressure. The room was cleaned each day.
The owners and staff went out of their way to be helpful. They made arrangements for local and airport transport and even confirmed our flight for us when we would have had to miss good hiking time to do it ourselves. The information they gave on hikes was very helpful and the hikes they suggested ended up being the best ones. They had a whole book of information on hikes and restaurants showing various menus. This was very helpful in making our own choices of where to eat without walking all over town to see what was available. There was no music or noise after 10pm from the front desk. We were very glad we didn't listen to the couple of negative reviews written because it was the best all around hotel we stayed at in Argentina.

This small-scale hostel is located near the center of the town, but you may not find it if you don't know it upfront since it is at the end of a minor street. It offers very nice rooms (with decent bathroom and ample storage place) at better prices than any other hostel I saw in El Chalten. The upstairs rooms are centered around a nice breakfast room. The rooms downstairs are next to the reception so they may be more noisy.

The included breakfast is decent and can be extended with optional (paid) eggs or orange juice. Tea and other drinks can be purchased at any time.

The staff is very friendly (although not always very subtle) and always willing to help. They speak good English and I even heard one of them speak French.

Room Tip: The rooms upstairs are probably more quiet and also offer some views, even if the windows are very s...

The girls who work at this guesthouse are all very nice, helpful and accommodating. The room that we had was clean and had a fantastic bathroom! There was a lot of storage in the room which was a welcome respite as it is a rarity in Argentina to have anywhere to put your things. El Chalten is tiny so the location of the property is completely fine. The only two complaints I would state are that the walls in the guesthouse are extremely thin and we could hear the Spanish couple in the room next door talking as though they were in our room and that the restaurants that the girls at the front desk recommended were not very good. I understand that their friends own a restaurant, but it is not a particularly good one. Otherwise, this is a nice property that I would stay at again especially for the price.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor are quieter than those on the ground floor.

I stayed here for 3 nights and tried to leave early because of my dissatisfaction. The previous post is dead on with regards to the problems that I encountered. Among others, there was constant (and loud) music that started promptly at 8am until 11pm, staff was not very friendly after our initial check in, the room smelled moldy, the bathroom had a leak, the internet barely worked and we had to sleep with the door open to get ventilation at night (which we didn't feel great about). The standard breakfast was exactly that but if you pay a little extra (~$20 ARS) you get fresh squeezed orange juice and scrambled eggs that definitely hits the spot. You can find other places in El Chalten for the same price; go elsewhere.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and couldn't have been happier to leave. The women who checked us in after our long bus ride was not nice at all. She was more interested in telling us the "house rules" than making sure we were comfortable.
We were on the ground floor (#2) right next to reception and it was so noisy! Plus the women who work there play the radio very loudly all day (and especially loud at night until 11pm). The rooms are very very small, and have windows that do not open. The rooms get hot in the sun, and since you can't open the windows, you are forced to leave your room door open into the lobby to get any air. The bathrooms also have a weird smell (a little like raw sewage mixed with rotten food).
The breakfast was fine, simple like everywhere else. The internet hardly ever worked, though I can say that was the case throughout the town.
The rate we paid was $60/night and it was not at all worth it. If you want a quiet place to relax, look elsewhere.

I spent a delightful week at In.land.sis, which greatly enhanced my time in El Chalten, one of the most pleasant places I've ever been. It's a very friendly place (Leo, the guy on duty in the afternoons was always full of helpful advice about treks and restaurants and ready to chat) where within a day or two all the guests seem to know one another, often from the very tasty homemade breakfast (a cookie and two slices of bread, with cereal and a hot drink, which seems to be just about standard in much of Argentina).

The rooms themselves were relatively basic in terms of furnishings, but clean, warm, and comfortable which is what you need in El Chalten (which is basically a village for hikers and trekkers). Also, having read prior reviews, I was concerned about ventilation - the windows are welded shut (if you've experienced a Patagonian wind you'll understand why) but there seems to be ventilation through some sort of pipe in the bathroom which can be a bit noisy at times although I slept very well (and I'm a light sleeper).
