“Intriguing to see sand "desert" in the middle of YT”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Nice to see and drive by. Not much to say. There are some picnic tables. I am not sure if one is permitted to bring any dirt bikes or the sort here. But is is dune like turf, and not something one would expect to see here.

“Unique attraction in the Yukon”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Who knew there was a sandy desert patch in the middle of the Yukon Territories. Nice little spot to get out of the car to stretch and snap a few photos. I was pleasantly surprised.

“Better than I expected based on reviews”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

The dunes are right off the main highway...you really can't miss them, and if you are driving by it would really be a shame not to stop. It is a unique place, even in an area as diverse as Alaska and the Yukon. The informational placards were helpful to help us understand some of the how and why this 'desert' was special. My husband got some great pictures. I don't think our stop was more than 20 mins so it didn't take away from any of the other sights we had planned to see. I had seen some less than thrilled reviews here on TripAdvisor, so I wasn't expecting much, but enjoyed it more than expected.

“Cool sand dunes still short of a desert though!”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Nice short drive from town close to scenic Emerald Lake. Known as worlds smallest desert, more like cool sand dunes with a lot skirting pine trees throughout. Very picturesque and easy access.

“Mildly interesting”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

That's almost all I have to say -- it's a photo op, a desert in the middle of the tundra. Kind of interesting, and kinda different, but not that thrilling. Nevertheless, stop if you're close by and take a look.
