Owner description: The Kluane Museum of Natural History offers world-class wildlife exhibits with dioramas depicting natural habitat. Also displayed are Native clothing, tools and weapons of the Southern Tutchone people as well as minerals and gemstones that are found in the Yukon. The gift shop has many locally made crafts, including beaded, fur-trimmed moccasins, as well as a good selection of books dealing with the North. A large parking lot with two entrances makes it easy for vehicles as big as transport trucks to pull through. Watch for the World's Largest Gold Pan located next to the museum.

“Excellent exhibition of Canada wildlife”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

Its definitely worth to stop there. Friendly staff: at first the children needed to use the restrooms located in the exhibition area. They were allowed to enter without paying the fee, what we decided to do afterwards to enjoy the museum.
Eye-catching dioramas exhibiting the wildlife of Canada in its natural environment. In the vicinity you can look up to the world´s supposedly largest gold pan.
Recommended also for families with children. A place, where education comes alive.

“Interesting wildlife, Native, and mineral displays....”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

The building itself in interesting and unusual...the circular shape and roof. The displays were educational and our tweens really enjoyed it as well.

“Worth stopping in”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Our tourbus stopped here briefly while travelling through the Yukon on the way to Whitehorse. Right past the huge gold panon the highway with a painting of a gold rush man and marked "Burwash Landing". Hubby and teenager enjoyed the museum but I chose to spend my time in the gift shop and speaking to the woman running the museum. Don't miss the opportunity to speak with this lovely lady about life in the Yukon. The gift shop is a gem as it contains hand made items by local native peoples- a tough thing to find when every virtually every shop carries t-shirts and knick knacks manufactured in China. Purchased a unique poplar and burl wood bowl signed by the artist- not cheap but very good value compared with the prices in Whitehorse, Skagway and Ketchikan galleries for smaller and less interesting similar objects.

“Lots of taxidermy”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Our bus stopped here on the way to Beaver Creek. There are lots of taxidermy exibits and they contain a lot of information about the animals and the area. While we were there they also had a video of the building of the Alaskan Highway playing that was excellent. Admission is reasonable and the gift store prices are also fairly reasonable.

“Stop if you want to see taxidermied animals of the area”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

This museum is much larger than it appears on the outside and worth the stop and small fee, especially if you do not plan on a trip the University of Alaska Museum of the North in Fairbanks.
Samll gift shop and interesting fill on the Alaska Highway.
