Auberge la Maison Otis

Often I judge an establishment by their staff and Auberge la Maison Otis does not disappoint! We were greeted in a very friendly way and given a choice of accommodations.
The rooms in the main building are loft-type two story and very cozy. Somewhat dated 1970s, but nonetheless very comfortable.
Restaurant was totally excellent and breakfast good.
All the staff are super friendly and the location cannot be beat. We did find that the room rates were somewhat high. This is like due to the hotel's good location.
Atmosphere is extremely relaxed with loads of sofas and comfortable chairs for reading or simply enjoying a glass of wine.

Room Tip: Two story loft rooms are really quaint...staircase narrow so make sure you are sure footed.

On July 31st 2013, we stopped at La Maison Otis for one night after cruising along the beautiful
Charlevoix area in our Harley. We stayed there few years ago and we can appreciate still how friendly they are. Everything is in place to make your stay fantastic. The room was kind of old fashion mix between antics and modern, very clean and quiet. We had dinner downtown Baie St Paul but we took the breakfast there. AMAZING!
We will come back for sure.

Despite our written advice for late arrival, we were surprised to see the manager closing the place at 11:00 when we arrived not caring about us. We also found that for the price, the room would need to be refreshed. This inn has had a prestigious name in the past 30 years but no more. It looks like the owners rested on their laurels rather than maintain the quality. The common areas are still attractive though and the food served at the restaurant is good despite service that was so-so.
For the price we would'nt recommend.

Room Tip: avoid the 2 levels rooms

La Maison Otis is a cute little inn. We booked the cheapest room (125$, including breakfast and tax) and we were not disappointed. We had been told there was no air conditioning in our room, but there was a fan, which we used a lot. Our room was cute, small but we knew it would be and didn't care. Everything was very clean, the hotel was quiet, breakfast was fine.
A good place to stay if you want to be in the middle of everything in downtown Baie-St-Paul.
There are three buildings (Maison Otis, Maison Danais and Maison Gobeil). We were at Maison Gobeil, but the other buildings probably have larger rooms with air conditioning.

Went in July. Got a great little room full of European charm. Great bed. Great shower (being a shower junkie, it's one of the thing I rate places on). Charming town and you're smack dab in the middle of it. Breakfast was more than good. Staff was great. Will def come back here. Do check out the fjord.

Staff are great in both english and french. Main house is made of stone and fireplaces, comfy furniture, bar, resto and breakfast room. They got us discount lift tickets at Le Massif Ski resort which is a close 20 minutes up the road. OK the decor and layout of attached buildings seems a bit dated and odd, but we liked it. Used their spa for massage, dry sauna and crazy indoor pool. Walked to all shops and restos out their front door,Cabaret Club in basement was packed Saturday night.
Brkfst was included in our room price, great value. Cool little town.

Room Tip: Rooms are scattered in three small builidngs all connected by catwalks so no one has to walk outside...

Antique house thoroughly degraded in hippie quebecois style .room # 1 two completely worn out queen beds whose centers sink in 8 inches below the edge in a windowless attic with an 18" stair down to a sitting room in which a sofa bed touches both walls with a bathroom with no fan and a toilet on top of the heater all in an aged flowery knotty pine russian furniture grimy rug cheesiness. No acknowledgement from staff but to place mattress on floor beside dusty bedspring. Separate saunas smell and show deterioration. However, cheesy but warm main areas and good to very good food and a lot of very friendly service. Proximity to the best skiing in the east , and many disappointing restaurants.
