Currently at this Super 8, for our second, and final night. The hotel seems generally clean, nothing special, but nothing terrible, except one thing... the blankets on our bed were made of a strange rubberized spongy foam... torn and tattered. We usually stay in hotels a little nicer, and didn't want to seem fussy, so I thot I would just ask for an extra couple of blankets to see if we might get something better. Nope, same thing, down to the rips and worn holes. Must be damage the pull out sofa "beds" are doing. We tried to make the best of it the first night. Couldn't face this for a second night- so asked specifically if the had ANY other option in blankets. Rachael at the front desk was very nice, empathetic, and cheerful- she said she understood, and agreed the blankets do feel "weird", but that there was nothing she could do- as all their blankets were the same! Unbelievable to me. She thanked me for sharing the information, and let me know she would pass it onto management... but really, nothing she could do to help me get a decent night stay. Very disappointed- won;t be staying at Super 8 hotels again- lesson learned. Someone at Super 8 ought to check into a Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, or other budget hotel. Bedding is pretty important in a place were you come to primarily sleep.
Interesting side note- I've read through some of the TripAdvisor reviews, and it looks like management is good at hearing complaints, but that their response is generally the same. We will look into it and try harder in the future. Other brands try to make it right before you leave. Rachael's hands were tied, she was certainly friendly, but she was already aware that some people find the blankets "weird". If management cared, they would set her up for success and give her a few regular blankets for those who ask.
Good night and good bye Super 8.
Thank you for your honest feedback. I have reached out to the housekeeping department and they have advised that as of Friday August 9th they had placed an order with our supplier for a different kind of blanket. They will also do an audit of their current blankets and remove the ones that are damaged. On behalf of the entire team I do apologize for your experience. We do listen to our guests feedback and take it to heart and act upon things as quickly as we can. I am relieved to know that you found Rachel pleasant and eager to assist where she could. Respectfully, Tammy
Staff at check-in were friendly, however, not enough working at a time. We had to wait quite a while to get checked in. When we got to our room, our key cards didn't work. I went back to the front desk and there was again a line-up. I waited at least 20 minutes in line while my family sat in the hallway outside our room. When the phone would ring, the front desk agent would take those calls before those of us who were already in line. The room was clean and comfortable. On our second day the toilet was leaking quite a bit. We informed the front desk and were moved to another room right away. One thing that we've enjoyed in the past is the family games room. However on our first night, we were told we couldn't use it because they were storing bicycles for other guests. A bit annoying seeing as it was a long weekend and there were many children at the hotel. Breakfast was okay. The pool is small, but the kids really love the water slide!
Good day Nsbeachgirl69,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your frustrations at check in. Unfortunately it appears you were there during a very busy period. We acknowledge this can happen without warning. We are in the process of training the staff to actually transfer incoming reservations call to a dedicated reservations department to help during these peaks. We are very happy the kids enjoyed the water-slide. It is very heartwarming to hear that you are a returning guest. We do have limited storage options and will review where is the most appropriate to assist guests with items such as bicycles so as to not affect guests that might want the recreation area. As this was not your first time with us and you see the value with the hotel we sincerely hope that you will gives us another chance. Respectfully, Tammy
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here (3 nights). There were a group of us (about 18 people or so) who were staying at the motel to participate in a nearby reunion of sorts. The staff were very friendly and allowed us the use of a conference room to meet on our first night, and then again to share breakfast with each other on the next couple of mornings. The motel was clean, the free continental breakfast was adequate, and in general the place exceeded our expectations.
A nice feature is that the hotel is situated on a hill and there are some very scenic views from the parking lot, even a couple of chairs off to the side to sit and view the sunset if you choose.
Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we were able to make a special time for you that much more enjoyable. I will definitely share your feelings with the team to ensure they understand how the little things can make such a huge difference to our guests. Once again thank you and as I see you are from Texas I am not sure when we might see you again but have safe travels. Yours in Hospitality, Tammy
