Nice looking place. The main dining hall is quite impressive and its quite welcoming with a real fire in the main bar. The lady who served us was quite pleasant but there was no real welcome. The service was quite good and the food was ok but not as good as it should be given the price. I had a beef bourginion which was £16.95 but I would say it was no better than any old beef stew you would expect to get in a pub for £8 or £9. It was as if it had ambitions for its food which it had not yet achieved but was charging for it anyway. Won't be going back.

Saturday 2nd Feb a small group turned up at 7 for a two course dinner. We left at 915 having waited for what seemed an eternity at every stage of the meal. We gave up at the end and when our desserts finally arrived asked for the bill immediately. A couple at an adjacent table waited twenty minutes for their order to be taken. It was simply awful.
The dining area in what appears to be a converted barn was cold to the point that one of the group had to keep their coat on for the latter stage of the meal.
Food was ok but nothing special and certainly not worth the wait. We won't be going back.

Really enjoyed my meal here, came with my boyfriend at the end of November. Atmosphere was spot on, restaurant was very nicely presented and staff were friendly. I had mussels to start which we're gorgeous, confit shoulder of lamb for main with honey roasted veg Wow is the only word to describe it. Both my. Boyfriend and I was stuffed after two courses but had to sample the desserts before we left. We definitely be returning and telling all our friend about the great food and great staff to match :)

Four of us visited after touring Penderyn and two of us were return customers of the Cider Mill. The welcome is consistently friendly and the food absolutely superb. The pâté, soup, gammon and steak & ale pie were all fabulous. Generous but not over-facing portions, piping hot and appetising rather than 'tortured' presentation. The ultimate family business. The mediocre, and much pricier city establishments of Cardiff should visit for lessons in how it should be done. Excellent.
