We stayed here for bank holiday weekend, great views of the mountains, close to Pen y fan. We normally stay on smaller sites but thoroughly enjoyed Cwmdu, it is a very well maintained site,
We had a large grass pitch with electric, for a VW transporter with a full side awning, the pitch was just wide enough, in a lovely shaded area but still got a lot of sun. The pitches were long and we had plenty of room to sit out.
Some of the hard standing pitches seem a quite small. The facilities were good, the washing up facilities are small, 2 indoor and an outdoor but wasn’t a problem, The freezer didn’t freeze the freezer blocks very well but it got them cold. The ladies refurbished amenities block was good, hairdryer cost 20p. The men’s was a little lacking, but I’m sure they will be next in the list to refurb. The WiFi was pretty non existent, I didn’t mind this as I had come to recharge without my phone!
Shop was a great touch especially when you forget essentials. There is a takeaway which delivers to the site.
Nothing much around, which is why we chose the site. However this area is notorious for bikers and you can hear them quite early on a weekend roaring past.
The Farmers arms pub serves great Sunday Lunch, we walked to the Kestrel for food only to find out it was closed on arrival....not opening until 6pm! Great cafe down the road in a renovated petrol station, great cakes winning lots of awards at the Royal Welsh, but gets very busy on the weekends.
Crickhowell is only a few miles away and is lovely although you can’t walk from site unless you go on main road.
I would definitely stay here again,

The most perfect place to spend a bank holiday weekend. The site and facilities were all spotless. The wardens were extremely helpful, kind, and efficient. A very organised and well run campsite. Thankyou.

We had a last minute overnight stop at this campsite and we were so pleased we did! Beautiful environment, helpful staff and well run campsite overall. Facilities were new and very clean. Hot showers and plenty of clean toilets.. All areas were well kept as far as I could see and they even had a communal fridge, freezer and microwave in the dishwashing area.
Around the corner from the site is a Community run pub called the Farmers Arms. Beautiful food and welcoming service, well worth a visit. Also on the same road there’s a roadside cafe which is open from breakfast to tea time, great coffee and food.
All in all we had a cracking stay and wished we could’ve stayed longer. Thank you very much!!

I came for a short break at this beautiful campsite with my family and friend.
My parents stayed in their caravan on a pitch opposite the log pod where myself and my friend stayed. The wardens were super helpful, friendly and accommodating.
The campsite is clean, peaceful and quiet. The facilities are outstanding with a modern toilet/shower block which are well equipped, clean and bright (8 showers so we never had to queue!!!!) a washing up station, laundry room and shop. Excellent WiFi (considering we were in the middle of the countryside)
The log pod is equipped with a kettle, fridge, BBQ, chairs, crockery, a table that turns into the bed and an additional table - everything you need apart from bedding.
The setting is perfect and overlooks fantastic views of the Brecon Beacons. A great base for walking in the hills and ideally located close to the pretty little market town of Crickhowell, great for independent shops and cafes. I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to get away and immerse themselves in the beautiful surroundings.
