“Wonderful break”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

We visited Crickhowell for the Walking Festival this week and spent three nights at The Dragon. The hotel was wonderful. The staff are very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, the bedrooms are recently refurbished and the restaurant was excellent, with good food and service. The Thursday steak night is excellent value and included local venison. The hotel is in the centre of this small town, but we found it very quiet at night and slept well. It's a perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of Wales and the CRIC information centre is a good place to find out what is on offer.

Stayed for one night and was very impressed. The staff were excellent and really looked after us. The rooms were first class and the food in the restaurant was fantastic both lunch and dinner menus . Will definitely be back again..

Booked afternoon tea for a group of 7 ladies just before Christmas. The price was very reasonable at only £7.25 each but we weren't sure what to expect as other venues in the locality are much more expensive. However, we were not disappointed. It was beautifully presented and served and consisted of a selection of sandwiches and cakes together with delicious "melt in the mouth" scones with cream and jam. Refills of tea were provided at no extra charge - a nice touch as other venues charge for this. Although the place was not full there was still a good atmosphere and the roaring log fire on a dull and rainy day helped to create the Christmas spirit. Will definitely go again - recommended.

After staying at the Old Rectory in Llangattock for sixteen years (up to ten people, three or four times a year) we decided not to accept the poor level of service any more. When you book ten rooms, you expect that booking to be honored!
Back in the 'Williams's' days it was fantastic and everything was 'as-promised' but now......

The Dragon was recommended under it's new ownership and frankly, it was one of the best moves we ever made. We had no complaints about The Manor Hotel but thought we would change anyway. They (The Dragon) are about to embark on a 're-furb' but we, the twelve of us, were more than happy with things as they were.
The staff worked hard to ensure every thing was as we wanted; nothing was too much trouble. We asked for our own carve-it-yourself turkey dinner including all the trimmings, and they obliged with choice of dessert and glass of wine. The bar was open as long as we required it, there were no short-comings in the rooms & the (very reasonable) price included a full breakfast with plenty of choice. The Dragon has it's own private car park and you are right in the middle of all the towns facilities.
As soon as Christmas and the New Year are out of the way, and my calender is sorted for 2014, I will be booking us all in again for the three visits.

We would especially like to thank Pedro, James, and head chef Lisa, Thank You!

Stayed for just one night on a business trip and found the Dragon inn very welcoming with everything I needed, good food a good range of local beer as well as Peroni on tap. Service was friendly and very good and the room seemed recently refurbished and very comfortable. Crickhowell looks a great place to visit for a long weekend and I will definitely be coming back soon for a leisurely weekend to enjoy the Dragon and explore the surrounding area some more.

The Dragon Inn was recommended to me for a few days away and I found it to be very welcoming and enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and the food is highly rated. The rooms are spacious and very fit for purpose. The garden area is great for families. Crickhowell itself has everything you could want for a few days away and enough diversity to do something different every day. This Inn is definitely one of the best in the village and I will definitely being re-visiting in the future.

I have eaten in most of the Crickhowell restaurants and still regard the Dragon as one of the best eating places in this area. The staff are very good and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Top this with great food and you have near perfection
