We have stated at this hotel before, it is full of old world charm and very relaxing. However they need too pay more attention to deal, internal glass fire doors are full of finger prints, no lady glasses for larger, the electrical sockets in the bedroom are to close to the floor making it impossible to plug a charger in. The food is good, and the fish and chips outstanding, but the chef is heavy handed with his dressing, a little less would be more! The location is great for all outdoor pursuits. We went on the hotel offer and it was good value,

We booked last minute and got a £90 deal (including breakfast). The evening brasserie menu was £20/head not including wine and the food was excellent. The room (room 2) was showing a little wear and tear but otherwise very comfortable with a fine view.

The barman was a little inexperienced but it was fine on the whole and I would agree that the staff were excellent, particularly the waitress in the restaurant.

It was our first getaway in 5 years (from two very young children!), and I can honestly say I would recommend it.

We went for a 2 day stay here on a deal from Local Amazon. It included a 7 course taster menu on the first night and a meal in the brasserie on the second night. The room was fine, even though it was a little dark as it only had one small window. ( Sorry I can't remember the number!)
The food was good but not excellent, however top marks for providing so well for my husband who is a coeliac. The location is great and the gardens very pleasant to walk through. But it was the staff who really made this place somewhere I would return to, they were both friendly and helpful and a credit to whoever trains them.
It's worth mentioning that we could have got an even better deal if we had booked directly through the hotel website ( the same but with a cocktail on arrival!) It was good value for what we paid.

We had a change of plan and decided to visit hotel. It was short notice so we booked with hotel which was a similar price per room on their site to booking.com around £70. On departure we had a bill for £140 the young girl said it was per person. It was embarrassing and they still have not replied to querie. If you plan on staying here check price 1st. The stay for b&b did not warrant this money !

We went to the hotel on a weekend break. We had a warm, friendly greeting from the receptionist who showed us around as soon as we arrived. Our room was spacious and clean and well decorated. The bed was very comfortable, and we had bath and shower in our en suite. The hotel is very old in parts and yet it's tastefully decorated and well cared for. The gardens are lovely. They could do with more TLC and time, but to be fair, a team of gardeners would be needed to get the gardens back to past glory. The otters hide and river were added attractions. The 7-course "Taster" meal was very unusual and exciting. The three course meal next day was generous in portion size and delicious. We would recommend this hotel to all our friends.

Room Tip: Go for the room upgrade if offered. The hotel was quiet but probably if a wedding was being held the...

We booked a table for lunch and were very very pleased. Really relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Sat in the conservatory overlooking grounds and river. The menu was varied and 'specials' tempting. Food was excellent, we all ordered different items and all were enjoyed. The staff were attentive and pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed our first meal here - many more to follow I'm sure and hopefully with better weather so we can explore the gardens.
