We were attracted to this place not only because of the setting but also because of the lovely and enticing restaurant menu. The hotel is certainly very comfortable with lovely grounds, made special by the River Irfon running through the grounds. However, our idea of choosing a great meal from the menu was dashed by the fact that we ate on a Sunday, when the normal menu was unavailable and replaced by a Sunday roast - not what we would have chosen had we known (the website makes no mention of this). The food was properly cooked, but uninspiring and with a stodgy Yorkshire pudding, and poorly presented. The waiting staff were also uninspiring. So our 'special meal' was a let-down, though the breakfast showed that there was some cooking talent around.
