Well....this was a suprise....a very pleasant suprise.

Normally its travelodge most of the week...but the company pulled this one from the hat.

A proper hotel...real staff...real facilities.

I dined here as well in the restaurant. ..the food is fabulous. I've dined at jamie olivers in newquay....its so close to that standard.

My only issues...tv keeps going off....and whilst the room is beautifully appointed. ..why would you have curtains that cover the radiator.

If your looking for a nice break away...look no further though!

“Caer Berris Hotel”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

Evening meal at the Caer Beris, easy access in Builth Wells, food absolutely superb, quality and presentation could not be bettered. The Restaurant was full and when served with the food I can understand why.
If you do pay with credit card there is a £2 fee.

“Beautiful food”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Bar menu was good value but presence of dogs was off putting when eating. Majority of guests were eating from the taster menu and it looked very good. If you are visiting without dogs I would suggest asking to eat in the restaurant as it appears to be dog free whereas the conservatory is full of dogs.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your bar meal at the hotel. Dogs are not allowed in the lower tier of the conservatory which overlooks the grounds nor anywhere in the main Restaurant 1896. Guests can be accompanied by their pets in the bar lounge.

“I can recommend the 7-course taster menu”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

It would be a shame to tell you what we had and spoil the surprise, so just go and enjoy the seasonal menu.

“7 course meal is very good”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

We stayed 2 nights and the 7 course meal on the first night was great. The second night, we chose from the normal menu and the food was good but not as good as the 7 course menu. Perhaps many and smaller portions are better given the richness of some of the dishes.

Overall, it was a very good 7 course meal. It deserves the rosettes received.
