Just one word - wow! Something for everyone here - from history, interior decorating, china, memorabilia, paintings, social history and beautiful gardens. All set in a stunning valley with an old church and abbey ruins next door. Be assured of a warm welcome and your guide will bring the restoration of the house alive.
Having just moved house myself I have picked up so many ideas and tips, but need to go back - there was just so much to take in!
There are plenty of sofas and comfy chairs in which to rest while you take in the beautiful rooms. We are still talking about our visit a week later!

Thankyou Paul and Victoria for letting us share your wonderful home with us. Each beautifully decorated room was a delight , intriguing and fun. Beautiful paintings and wonderful collections from fine china and vintage childrens books to historic food tins. There would be something for everyone to enjoy. The gardens are stunning - a wonderful day out.

45 of our club had the delight of visiting this property unfortunately the weather was not at its best but the welcome and hospitality we received at this property was marvelous. It is set in the most beautiful surroundings and the gardens are enhanced by the spectacular back drop. The house having been lovingly transformed is indescribable there is so much to see and discover they have done a job to be so proud of.It shows you what can be done and not all done at great expense. We have been round many houses but this will keep us talking form months. The hospitality of the owners was second to none a big thank you from us all,it was a day to be treasured. .A visit is a must

“A great Find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013

We recently visited the Abbey-Cwm-Hir Hall and we were amazed at this Gothic house, I would like to thank Paul and Victoria for sharing their beautiful house with us they are so friendly along with the friends that help them in and around the place, We arrived earlier than our appointment time and were given a warm friendly welcome and invited to look around the garden which was lovely and so peaceful, you then went through a wood shed to find a waterfall and lake which again was very peaceful, a short walk down from the lake was the Abbey ruins and alongside it was a cemetery were the last true Prince of wales is buried, everyone we met was very friendly including man who was helping out in the gardens ( sorry forgot name)
When the time came for us to view the house we were welcomed in by Paul and Val we were asked did we mind removing our shoes this was not a problem as the carpets were like warm slippers, Val took us on our tour while Paul took others around, you see Victoria busy around the house doing normal stuff, we were shown into one of the rooms I think it was the lounge and invited to sit anywhere which was a gob smacker, as we assumed we would just be allowed in to stand and look around as we were spoken to, upon which we were informed that nothing was off limits to touch / sit / feel / look inside / take pictures which was amazing, as usually going round these sort of houses you have to stay behind ropes.
We were given a outlined history behind the house and about the previous owners and how and when the present owners acquired it, the state it was in before they took it over and what they did to try and restore the house back to it's original decor or as near to it as they think it would have looked like back when and invited to ask as many questions as we went round as we wanted and there are so many beautiful and interesting things to ask about and then we were taken on a journey and OH what a journey we were told to take our time and look around there is no hurrying you to get you through so as they can take others round this is your time no matter how long you browse and Val was there explaining all about the different collections where and how Paul and Victoria had acquired them, after we'd seen all of the rooms on the ground level at our leisure (there are so many and all so different) . Val then took us up stairs to the first floor and again it was an experience not to be missed again nothing was deemed to be out of bounds to us and all again so different and the bathrooms well you must go and see them to name just one there were taps in the shape of gold swans, then WOW WOW we were taken to the attic floor if you can call it that it was a warren of rooms/apartments made for the family and friends (there must have been at least 4 full apartments all furnished differently and a granny flat made for Victoria's Mum and all held surprises then you are taken to the cellars which are also a warren of different themed rooms with lots of collections If you only do one thing this year go and visit Abbey-Cwm-Hir and you won't be disappointed it's not one of your 20 minute tours either between the gardens and the house we spent at least 4-5 hrs and you can get drinks and snacks in the garden room
This house is an experience not to be missed We will certainly be going back for the Christmas set up which we have been told is a must see as well Once again thank you Paul and Victoria for allowing us to see your beautiful home
