I was here as part of a large coach party the hotel itself has a large car park at the rear which is ample for most amounts hotel guests, the restaurant was very efficient with all meals arriving at the same time without pre ordering the breakfast which was served in the same room was the normal fayre my room(439) although small was very clean and well presented with a motion detector activated light in the bath room although the room was on the small side it was ample for a few days but no longer as most people would need more space for longer stays

Stayed for 2 nights in April and really liked the hotel. It’s a fair walk from the car park to reception and there are a lot of steps up to the hotel so some people may struggle with luggage. The room was large and comfy with a great bed.

We tried to eat in the brasserie in the first night, but were told they had no tables. There were several empty in the bar area, but they refused to served us there. We managed to get a table in the main restaurant and the food was good,. The next night was quieter being a Sunday and we got a table in the brasserie where the food was excellent.

Breakfast was lovely.

The staff were lovely, although a couple of them could do with a little more training in how to talk to customers who are paying a reasonable amount of money to stay there. Don’t just say no when a guest asks for a table for dinner. Try explaining why, and offer alternatives.

We’ll stay here again.

We found that there were a number of steps to ascend when entering from the car park making it difficult to carry luggage.
Our room was extremely cold and the heating didn't operate at all. I asked for it to be checked but was subsequently told it wasn't working. The bathroom had several steps down and it was even colder and so I requested a different room. This was able to be changed, although it was smaller, it was warm.
The staff at the hotel were all very helpful and friendly. There was a good choice on the menu each night and the service was excellent.

We discovered this lovely hotel via a Travelzoo offer and had a delightful two-nights stay. The Metropole is full of timeless charm and it is inspiring to learn that it has been in the same family ownership for over a hundred years. There is a sense of friendliness, hospitality and quality as soon as you enter and receive a warm welcome at Reception. We felt instantly 'at home'. Our bedroom was spacious - and to describe the very comfortable bed as 'king-sized' would be an understatement! The food here is excellent and we enjoyed a superb tasting-menu on the first night, all expertly presented and efficiently served with a smile. Our special offer included a glass of champagne with dinner each evening - a nice touch. The whole staff at this hotel are noticeably trained to please and to offer cheerful greetings and service as standard. The spa facilities and pool are an added bonus in this traditional, old town-centre hotel which is obviously at the hub of the social and business life of Llandrindod Wells. A great base from which to tour the Elan Valley or to take the scenic drive to the coast and Aberystwyth. We will certainly be back.
