I Sayed for a week in early September. You will find your hosts friendly informative and willing to offer advice and information about places to visit and eat. The accomodation was first class with beautiful views of the estuary and Barmouth bridge. The breakfast is just right for setting you up for the day, with plenty of choice from the menu. I would not hesitate to book again, I found this guest house a very peaceful and relaxing place to be.

Room Tip: Only one room does not face the estuary.

Thank you for your generous review and I am truly delighted you enjoyed your stay so much. It is especially good that you found Bryn Melyn so peaceful and relaxing. Different places have different atmospheres and we realised soon after we moved in that this was a place of tranquillity. It was never going to be the party capital of Snowdonia, and we have worked to try and enhance that feeling so that everyone who stays here feels refreshed and at ease. We very much look forward to welcoming you back again for another dose of relaxation some time!

We stayed here for one night recently and after negotiating a difficult steep drive way managed to park our vehicle. (worth it for the view though) We were greeted by a friendly helpful couple and immediately taken to our room. It was lovely and clean and the view was wonderful but the shower was a bit snug with a weak pressure. The breakfast was good but I felt that overall it was a bit pricey for a B and B.

Thank you for taking the trouble to review your recent, brief stay with us. We appreciate your awarding a maximum five stars for cleanliness, location and service - we feel these are important elements in any stay and have worked hard over the last 4 years to achieve a good standard. I'm sorry we disappointed you in terms of sleep quality and value however. We do listen to and take on board comments, especially recurring ones. As a result of several reviews for example we took the decision this year to replace all our mattresses with memory foam. This, combined with the very tranquil location we enjoy, has resulted in a great many positive comments about sleep quality so I am truly sorry you did not sleep well. The shower pressure on the top floor is an issue related to the size and age of the house. Whilst most guests find it adequate we have been investigating ways we can improve it and hope this winter to be able to announce something so please be assured that we are not complacent.
As far as value for money is concerned I think that is a more subjective issue, although again I am sorry you felt we were pricey. I would say that our prices are very competitive for the quality we offer in this area and fortunately most of our guests seem to be happy with what we offer.
If you choose to return at some stage please remind me of this review and I will endeavour to accommodate you in one of our larger rooms, if available.

We stayed at Bryn Melyn Guest house over the August holiday weekend. The room was spotless and offered a view across the estuary, what a view. The breakfast is just what you need to set you up for the day (nice little touch is the information on the produce). The guest house is up a steep road but well worth it. As already mentioned by others, the use of a bath with a large selection of toiletries was very welcome.
The en-suite bathroom was lovely too.

If you are looking for a clean, well maintained, hotel/guest house in Barmouth, serving great food, by a knowledgeable couple, you have found it.

Will stay again.

Guest house was lovely!

As my and my boyfriend were only a young couple (19) we were a tad worried about not being able to get dinner or find things to do but David was absolutely brilliant with giving us phone numbers and suggestions.

We didn't check in until gone 11pm and David came outside to greet us and show us to our room straight away.

Room was lovely and clean with a breathtaking view, beds were comfortable, it had a tv and hair dryer which is very important to us young girls! Nice selection of teas and coffees - bathroom was nice however the cubicle was a little small.

Breakfast was as beautiful as the view!

Overall we had a lovely time and it was definitely worth the money - we are planning to back later on in the year!

We were all young once and I well remember how daunting the world could seem sometimes at that age! We know this area very well and have a pretty good knowledge of where is good to eat and, more importantly, where is likely to have availability. I'm glad we were able to help out and point you towards some good places, both to visit during the day and to eat in in the evenings.

Thank you for your positive review, and we look forward to welcoming you back as 'old hands' later in the year...

I booked this B&B for the view and it didn't disappoint.

The house itself is up a winding road with the entrance so placed that you have to drive up the road a few hundred yards to turn round.

The rooms are good and the breakfast fulsome. The vegetarian sausages are a little stodgy and the owners should source others, but that's a minor quibble.

Watching the birds feed outside the breakfast windows was a joy.

Fitting yourself into the shower is a bit like getting into the car park: you have to angle yourself correctly and don’t drop anything as the cubicle is so tight.

All in all a good place to stay.

Thank you for taking time to review your stay. We are lucky with our location, and doubly fortunate that so many of our rooms take advantage of the views from the front of the house, so we are pleased you were not disappointed.

I'm sorry you found the shower a little tight. In our defence we did use the medium size quadrant shower in your room, so it could have been smaller! (Indeed that shower is larger than those in some international hotel chains). Equally the vegetarian sausage we feature is a traditional Welsh Glamorgan sausage, made with bread crumbs, leeks and Caerphilly cheese. We actually get a lot of positive comments about it so I guess it must be a matter of personal taste, but I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it.

If you choose to come and stay again (and book far enough ahead), I will try to put you in a room with a slightly larger shower, (but I can't guarantee a different vegetarian sausage).

Loved our stay here - it couldn't have been better. More like a hotel then a B & B. Lovely views over Barmouth estuary from our room. Comfortable beds. Clean. Everything worked. Nice breakfast: help yourself to fruit/toast/yogs/cereal then order good choice of hot food. Extra touches that I particularly liked: we only had a shower in our room but could use a very nice bathroom down the hall if we wanted a bath (great choice of toiletries!) and use of nice terrace with views and lots of bird feeders with many birds. Also bar open until 11.00 (just ring the bell) which is nice if you want a nightcap. Short but steep walk back from town so mainly drove but parking not a problem, with some free in the evening by the side of the road in. Don't miss Panoramic Walk just up from hotel - short walk but amazing view. David full of local knowledge so worth checking with him before you do anything. Hotel car park a bit tight but we managed to park our Focus Estate OK with some manoeuvring.

Room Tip: ask for one with a view - it is fantastic!

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It is great to know that all the time and money we have invested in Bryn Melyn over the last four years is appreciated. We did not set out to turn it into a hotel-like B&B. I think we knew what we liked to find in a guest house or hotel when we went away and so set about trying to provide as much of that as was possible. Over the course of 4 winters we have completed most of the major refurbishment that we identified and whilst we will never feel completely satisfied we do largely feel that Bryn Melyn is 'just about there' in terms of what we want it to be. We are pleased that you appreciated some of the little extras - and never hesitate to ask either of us for information about the local area and attractions. We love to share!

I have just returned from a brilliant three night stay at the guest house with my boyfriend for his birthday and would like to say a big thankyou to David and Heather for being such wonderful hosts. The room we were given boasted beautiful views and the room itself was also beautiful, as well as being clean and spacious. The couple were very helpful in particular when it came to suggesting activities for the days we spent there, such as the "Blue Lake" suggested by David, which proved quite a walk, but well worth it due to the beautiful location and views. As well as this, we were able to always start the day on a good note, being able to walk downstairs and enjoy a wonderful cooked Welsh breakfast whilst watching the birds and occasional squirrel tuck into some food out on the terrace. The five star rating could not be more deserved and I would greatly recommend this place.

It is always a privilege to help guests with a celebration so having you both stay here for your boyfriend's birthday was a real pleasure. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay so much and were delighted to be able to help you explore the area. The walk to the Blue Lake is one of the walks that can be done from the house without having to move your car but like many walks round here it helps to be pointed in the right direction!
Thank you for your generous comments and remember - you don't have to wait for another birthday before you come back again!
