There have unfortunately been some negative reviews about the Min-y-Mor, so let's try to redress the balance.

The Min-y-Mor was originally a large Victorian house, and was considerably extended over the years.
As might be expected of such a property the rooms and en-suites vary somewhat in size, views, and modernity, but this is reflected in the tariffs, and all are comfortable and very clean.
The hotel is in it’s own grounds, with a large (free to guests) car-park, and is very convenient, being a mere 5 or 10 minutes (flat) walk from Barmouth town centre, and within easy driving distance of numerous attractions.

My wife and I have stayed B&B here on several occasions, and have tried several rooms.
Our latest visit was over Easter weekend, and we stayed in Room 1, which is a family room at the front.

The meals are very good, with plenty of choice, and the kitchen can quite happily cope with special requirements with just a little notice.

Most of all, Helen and her staff are always very helpful and friendly, and we have always been very happy with the service.

If you want a brand new Hilton then you’re wasting your time in mid-Wales anyway, but for good standards at a reasonable tariff we’re more than happy to recommend the Min-y-Mor.

Room Tip: Room over the bar has good views but gets noisy.

Very disappointing.
The best thing of this place its location-on the sea front. In the rear it is very dingy. We went out for dinner on the second day, as we did not want to face the food in after the first night.
Overall, I have stayed better farmhouse.

Pease remember that this is a two star hotel in an old fashioned beach resort. It is not the revamped Savoy in London. The owners and staff could not be more helpful or friendly. Our room was clean and spacious with a good sea view. The food whilst not gastromic was plentiful, tasty and wholesome. The bar and its customers were a happy lot and the real ale delicious. .However the biggest positive is the access from the spacious hotel car park to wonderful walking. A little known joy indeed

My husband and I booked 3 nights at the Min-y-Mor and the first two nights we stayed in room 5. The room had hot water pipes running through it and we were sweating (bearing in mind it was around 10 degrees outside) we had to ask for a fan. I think the room was actually meant for a single occupancy. The shower didn't work properly and the bath water was yellow (yes yellow)! We were moved to room one on our last night which was a lovely room, but too little too late! (Water was still yellow). When I mentioned this to reception, they just laughed!
We got this stay on a deal, but I would never pay £80 a night (even for the nicest of rooms). If you decide to stay, make sure you find out in advance what room you will be given. The larger rooms are quite nice and spacious with fabulous views, but if you are in a smaller room, ask for a discounted price as they really are uncomfortable rooms. I wouldn't really recommend this hotel for younger guests, it seemed to be much more geared up for the older generation as well.

What a wonderful place to stay. We were welcomed with lovely, friendly staff who gave us all the help we needed to make us feel at home. The room was of a very high standard and fulfilled all our needs. The food was plentiful with a relaxing atmosphere. We would highly recommend this hotel and are already planning our next trip. The hotel is surrounded by picture postcard scenery which we enjoyed from our window.
Thankyou to all the staff for making it a holiday to remember.
