“Quirky, friendly and home-ly place to eat*”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

This was our fourth or so visit to Wales, especially Barmouth as we regularly camp on Shell Island. We went to the Anchor as it was a quiet night (Sunday night) and it didn't look too busy. The service was great, although there didn't seem to be an awful lot of 'evening meal/mail meals' available on the menu - it came accross to me as more of a place to grab a quick bit to eat as apposed to making a night of the place. All that said, the service was excellent, the place was spotless, mains arrived in good time too. The only down side is that I think the Steak is too expensive for what it is. All be it very nicely prepared, it could have been better. I also believe that the chips were frozen chips too - again, still nice, although you cannot beat real chips!

“Ok service, nice setting, food ok”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

Was very busy which may be why service was average. Pretty much all tables were full and people being turned away. I had a rack of ribs platter which were fine but I was expecting a full rack and got about six which was a bit disappointing. Food tasted fine though.
