“The best guest house and holiday apartments i have ever stayed in!”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

i stayed once by accident when i was out on my motorbike and was a bit late getting back so decided to find a hotel. Popped in danny showed me the garage to park my bike and Lisa showed me to my room.
Clean is not the word, perfection. Went back with my wife in the car and showed her and she couldnt believe the place. The best thing is they give you a key and leave you alone. The best views of Barmouth ever. great bed and shower and all the resteraunts and cafes on your door.
They have two apartments too on the end and i promise ive never seen any as good. anywhere!!

This is a bright yellow building perched on the corner of Barmouth promenade which when sitting in the attached garden area gives you quite good views across the sea front and the beach. The house looks like an art deco style build and occupies a good position for access to the nearby beach, pubs, restaurants, quay and other amenities.

We stayed for a single night as we were cycling route 8 as part of the national cycle network. If you are cycling then there shouldn’t be an issue with storing bikes as there is an attached garage that can be used to keep the bikes in.

I guess the big selling point of the Sunray guesthouse is its location. With regard to the room, I was a little disappointed that it was a little small and tight for £60 a night and there wasn’t any breakfast which I did find a little unusual for a guesthouse. I guess you just get used to the bed and breakfast routine and we probably forgot about this part as the booking was made some time ago. There is a small flat screen TV in the room as well, for me it was a little too small for its position on the opposite wall to the bed as I had a problem reading some of the text on the screen. The information in the room also says there is Wi-Fi available but both me and my partner weren’t able to see the network on our phones. There is also a fridge available in the hallway to store any drinks if needs be.

The bathroom was very clean and had a good shower in and the bed gave us both a good nights sleep. The room information also recommends The Last Inn pub as a place to eat at. We had a wander over there but was a little put off at the £13.45 price tag for vegetable curry and chips and decided to eat somewhere else.

Danny and Lisa are welcoming friendly hosts and once you’ve been shown to your room they just leave you to get on with things. It was an OK stay for a single night.

Room Tip: A room at the front gives views over the sea and quay area.

Stayed for one night on my way home from IOM TT. Owners were friendly and helpful - room was clean and nicely decorated with a really nice en-suite bathroom. Secure parking for the bike was exactly as advertised. Very few places live up to their website images - this one actually exceeds them! Only wish I could have stayed longer - I will definitely return. (Note for satnav users: There is a small wooden toll bridge just down the road that is closed in the evening, so select the option to avoid toll bridges if you are arriving late in the day).

We arrived 08/06/2012, right in the middle of the worst storms Wales has experienced in a long time. Danny already had the garage door open for us ready to accommodate our motorcycle, and they were both on hand to help us get our kit put up for drying out. Nothing was too much trouble, a pleasant clean en suite room, with a beautiful view out over the estuary (when the rain finally cleared). No breakfast, but not a problem as it was nice to be able to have a lie in and not have to race for the dining room. Plenty of reasonably priced cafe's and a great Pub (The Last Inn) within five minutes stroll. We arrived as drowned R.A.T's and left as confirmed Sunrayers...
Many thanks, Danny and Lisa for a great stay.

Marion & Phil Tabberer.

The Sunray has possibly the best location in Barmouth.
We stayed in room 6 and in the morning sat up in bed with a cuppa, enjoying a superb view of the Barmouth beach.
This was our second visit so that speaks volumes in itself.
It's a very uncomplicated guesthouse. You check in, you're given your keys, made aware of the very few sensible rules of the house, then pretty much left to do as you please.
Breakfast is not included but this has it's advantages.
How many times have you gone for breakfast not really hungry, but determined to get your money's worth. The owners themselves state with humour, that it allows them a lie in each morning. Who can blame them.
It also means that you can lie in too!!
Less than a minute away are 3 places where you can get breakfast at any time you wish, and many more just a few minutes away.
Overall, a fabulous guesthouse, in a fabulous location and with a fabulous ethos.
Will be back again soon.

...we just had to after staying at this superb place for three nights!
We looked up these reviews and thought we would see for ourselves. We did just that and can't recommend this place enough. We stayed in room three looking out over the harbour which was spotless and had several picnics on the terrace table overlooking the beach – perfect!
We recommend the Isis Pizzeria for your breakfast as they are very friendly and there’s a great choice of things to eat. Avoid the Anchor next door as you pay more for the same food and they’re less friendly.

We stayed for 2 nights on 19th & 20th April 2012.
Great accomodation and secure garage for our motorcycles.
Will definately recommend to friends and family and would have no hesitation booking a return visit.
Excellent base to explore Snowdonia National Park and North West Wales.

Room Tip: Great views from all rooms. We stayed in Room 3.
