“friendly people,great breakfasts”
Reviewed November 27, 2011

A nice welcome from Adrian who helped us with our luggage, we were dissapointed to be stuck in a very small room in the back of the lodge with no view, the room itself was very small you could not swing a cat, the room was spotless and once we had put the heater on it was warm and cosy, shame we could not say that about the bathroom which was freezing and remained so as there was no heating available also the hot water took an age to come through and when it did it was only a drip which made it very difficult to have a decent shave also the mirror was at your side rather than facing you, very uncomfortable , the bed and bedding were first class and spotless. The breakfasts were fantastic, bread and toast fantastic and the service given by Robyn in a friendly and pleasant manner was just great, I just think that at £70 per night the room left much to be desired in size and location and therefor overpriced. Robyn and Adrian are doing a great job with this hotel!! Lovely warm welcome, excellent service, breakfast and the sea view rooms are fabulous. It is a cosy and homely place and we had a wonderful weekend. We will definately return and also to be able to eat in the pub down the road. The Last Inn is fabulous in every respect, in fact it is that good it is worth the drive to Barmouth just for the food and service. Fabulous all round!!

Room Tip: Ask for the sea view room. If however you are taking a dog they only have 2 rooms for that purpose.

Super friendly service with quality breakfasts - the "eggs Benedict" was out of this world. Great welcome when we arrived - tea and Welsh cakes. Lovely location with fine views from the terrace and breakfast rooms. Excellent car park - quite rare in Barmouth. Spotlessly clean and warm throughout. Robyn and Adrian are lovely people and if you get the chance; listen to Adrian's saxophone playing at The Last Inn on Tuesday nights. Truly unforgetable! The front bedrooms with their great sea views are the icing on the cake.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have great sea views but cost more. The back rooms are a little cramped but tota...

A pleasant stay from beginning to end. The owners of the lodge have a charming manner, and they manage your stay with home comfort and a genuine care for your needs as a guest. As first time guests, we could not be more happy and most definitely would return. The rooms were immaculate (especially the en suite bathroom), breakfast had great choice and cooked perfectly. The secret beach just over the road was quint, and the location of the lodge was close to all you need from your visit to Barmouth.

Room Tip: Opt for sea view room, its worth that little extra for the view in the morning.

I highly recommend this place as somewhere to stay - the owners are lovely, helpful and friendly and the food each morning was delicious! We stayed in a beautiful room which was regularly cleaned to an immaculate standard. They have good parking facilities at the lodge too, which is a bonus!

Room Tip: If you're after a twin room, ask for the one that overlooksthe estuary

We had four nights here as a short break and we found the place very convenient for exploring the area, parking at the hotel site was very handy as parking in barmouth is very difficult. The rooms are clean and comfortable although a bit dated and could do with a make over, they have everything you need though to make your stay, but if your looking for 'boutique style' then this may not be for you. The breakfasts were scrummy! with a good choice of starters(missed my weetabix though) and the cooked breakfast was very good. We were asked on our first morning what would we like for breakfast without being told what was on offer! So we both had the full cooked, after that we realised there was a choice and you could have variations ie: scrambled eggs, kippers etc; We only have one real criticism and that is the very dark stairway, they have sensor lights that come on with movement and some were a little delayed as they were energy saving bulbs, so some of the stairs were a little difficult to see unless you took your time, we both felt that this needs to be improved upon, for health & safety of guests. Eating in Barmouth was fine if you like fast food and also most places do not accept debit or credit cards for payment so you need cash, which was a bit of a bind. The very excellent Mawddach Restaurant about 15mins drive from the hotel is well worth a visit. They accept card payments.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room, well worth the view
