From the time we arrived to the time we left we couldnt have felt more welcome. We came as strangers and left as friends. Eric and Shelagh are some of the nicest people we have ever met. Having travelled to many parts of the world to find the service and welcome recieved at the Wavecrest was among the best. The hearty breakfast was of a homemade taste made with care and a lot of attention. This B&B has been long-lasting (I can see why) and its ashame that we hadn't found it earlier. An amazing way to spend a weekend break! I would definetely recommend !

Room Tip: Sea view rooms worth having !

The welcome is what makes Wavecrest standout. Eric and Shelagh are outstanding hosts, for whom nothing is too much trouble. Our room looking over the seafront was spacious and bright. Breakfast was excellent.

Barmouth is a great location for an activity break. Highly recommend the cycle ride to Dolgellau (not very energetic - flat all the way on an old railway line). Can walk Cader Idris from the hotel, but quite a long lead in/out: easier with a car. Snowdon/Glydir/Darnedd is a little over an hour's drive. Wavecrest offers lock-up bike storage.

The decor and bathroom are getting tired in places, but the value for money is excellent and the warmth of the welcome more than makes up. Fully deserved 5 stars.

Room Tip: Sea view from the front is lovely. We did not have any problems with noise, despite it being onto Ma...

We stayed at the Wavecrest for a weekend and found the Guesthouse and its owners very welcoming. Our room on the first floor, which seemed to have been recently renovated and to a high standard, was comfortable and a good size. The first floor seating area over looking the beach was a good meeting place and would be a nice spot to spend some time if the weather is inclement. The breakfasts were very good with a choice of cereals, fruit and jams as well as the full Welsh breakfast made with quality ingredients. We would recommend the Wavecrest as it is a lovely place to stay and in a great location for the beach and the town.

I stayed here for 3 nights with friends during a very wet spell in June. The small and cosy lounge area on the first floor was therefore a real godsend - somewhere we could all sit and chat without feeling any pressure. I had room 4 at the back of the house which was a good size, nice and quiet with a standard double bed, good quality furniture and lovely, immaculate bathroom, but no view. My room had an opening window, but that of one my friends did not, so if this is an issue for you, check when booking. Eric and Shelagh are perfect hosts - like all their previous guests we really appreciated the fresh milk for our tea each evening and breakfast went well beyond expectations for hotels costing three or four times the price. Wavecrest is only a short walk from the town centre, yet is on a quiet no through road with safe, unrestricted, on street parking outside the guest house. I could not recommend it more highly.

Eric and Shelagh couldn't be more welcoming and do everything they can to make their guests feel at home. Clean, comfortable rooms, a hospitality tray with fresh milk- oh, the joy of not having UHT! My single room was small but very comfortable with a window seat so I could enjoy the stunning view across the bay. Other people's remarks about the breakfast are no exaggeration, and we had no need of lunch. The only drawback, for me, at least, was the number of stairs in the house, which are hard on arthritic knees, but the website clearly mentions this so I'm not complaining. I would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: All excellent.

Stayed at the Wave crest Barmouth for the jubilee bank holiday weekend. The guest house is very well situated close to the beach and the town. Eric and Shelagh are excellent hosts and very helpful. The Welsh breakfast is to die for with many extras. The rooms and house are very clean and well decorated. The bed in our room was very comfortable and the room was very spacious with an en suit bathroom which was also very clean. Tea coffee and biscuits are supplied in all rooms. There is a hair dryer so no need to take one with you. Barmouth its self is very pretty although in parts it are quite tired. This did not spoil the beauty of the location with the Snowdonia National Park as a backdrop. Simply stunning. if you like to walk there are some stunning walks in the area. I would recommend this guest house to anyone. A fantastic weekend. Thank you Eric and Shelagh.
