Review of Poppit Sands Beach

Large beach, exposed as is the norm, so windy days may need a break.

Old fashion bucket and spade day, ice creams, etc. can't beat it.

As stated dogs not so good for the kids.

The only pain is getting to Poppit Sands - its a windy narrow road 3 miles from Cardigan and 2 miles St Dogmaels. There is a local bus service called "The Poppit Rocket" that serves it 3 times a day. It departs Finch's Square, Cardigan. Last bus back into town is usually around 7pm.

Once you're there though - its a lovely spot. A huge expanse of sandy beach where you can relax without the sardine like atmosphere of the usual tourist traps at run down seaside towns. The beach has Blue Flag status and is also a Seaside Award (Resort) winner. Lifeguards patrol the beach from late June to early September, from 10.00 - 6.00 each day, and bathing is safe within the patrolled area, marked by flags

There's a handy cafe onsite and the local lifeboat station where you can view the boats that are staffed by brave volunteers.

Good size beach with lots of sand for children to play on. Reasonable facilities close by and parking. It's rather exposed so on a windy take a windbreak if you have one! The only slightly negative comment as someone else has said - too many dogs on the beach which is not so good if you have youg children.

This bay is wide and long with loads of sandy beaches to play in. The tide goes out a long way so on the low tide its a fair tab to the waters edge. Parking available across the road and there's a cafe there also. The RNLI and beach guards are also located here. You have to pay for the car park and the toilet is also nearby with a tab for water to clean or give dogs a drink. The road to this area in the Summer can get busy with it being single track in some areas, well worth a visit.

A lovely safe beach for all the family. Visited in May only downside was too many dogs on the beach. Nice cafe. friendly service, selling food and ice creams. Toilets and RNLI shop.
