“Friendly and comfortable in an excellent location”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

This was my third stay at the Gwbert Hotel and the second in a family room with my wife and two children. The rooms are basic and a little dated but they are clean and comfortable. The food is excellent - a good selection on the menu, all of which is tasty, generous and good value. You won't go hungry here! The service is also just what I like in a hotel - discrete and unobtrusive but friendly and there when you need it! I will definitely stay at the Gwbert again when next in this area,

Room Tip: Of the two family rooms, I prefer room 18 because the other family room was always too hot because o...

Once again our stay at the Gwbert was wonderful. Our favourite room had been upgraded (even though it was lovely before) and the new decor and furniture was the icing on the cake. In my last review I mentioned that the shower could have been better and yes, they had changed it... Well done Trip Advisor! This hotel is the perfect base for a relaxing break with spectacular views and opportunity to walk miles, which we did. Even the sun shone throughout for us which in February was an extra treat. Finally, the restaurant is fantastic. Their chef should be award winning. My husband and I really enjoy eating in some of the nicer restaurants in the UK and the food we enjoyed for our Valentines meal was as good as any we've tasted before. The Salmon pâté being a winner! Thank you to all the staff for being such great hosts, we look forward to coming back again very soon. :-)).

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, stunning!

Myself & 3 friends had a lovely lunch here yesterday. The waiter was very polite & helpful. Although our first couple of choices were not available. I had the roast ham with veg,new potatoes and parsley sauce. Which was delicious. It will be hard not to have it again if we go back.

We have stayed at Gwbert in the past in the quite pleasant Cliff Hotel. The nearby Gwbert Hotel is much smaller (20 rooms or so) and much more friendly but professional in its style. Excellent service from check-in to check-out, with modern, stylish rooms; ours had beautiful sea views. Our evening meal at the hotel's Flat Rock Bistro was very, very good! One word of warning if you are planning to stay on a bed & breakfast booking, you still need to phone in advance for a dinner table as the restaurant is very popular with locals.

We have just returned from a 3 night dinner, bed and breakfast break at the Gwbert Hotel. We have stayed in Cardigan many times and love the area and particularly the fantastic scenery and beautiful beaches. We had eaten at the Flatrock previously, but this was our first stay in the hotel and we were very impressed. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. There was very little noise and we had a lovely view out to sea. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout our stay and the restaurant staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Every evening we enjoyed a drink in the bar while we chose our meal. The selection and quality of food was very good and every meal was at a nice pace in lovely surroundings. One of the great treats was a freshly cooked full english breakfast whilst enjoying a sea view. I would happily recommend this hotel, even in cold, wet February weather.

We stayed there for one night recently and I was very impressed with the hotel and its restaurant, The Flatrock. The hotel itself has about 18 rooms, many of them with a lovely view of the Teifi estuary. The rooms are clean and comfortable although not particularly spacious. The bathroom is clean and everything works. The cooked breakfast was very nice - everything was fresh and tasty.
The previous evening we had dined in The Flatrock restaurant. It was Valentines Day and they had a special menu for the occasion. The food was extremely nice. Again, well cooked and both looking and tasting fresh. The service was very good. The waiters were polite and efficient.
My only minus is that sound carried through to our room from footsteps upstairs and voices from the next room. This did not detract from anything for us but you might be unlucky and get some noisier neighbours which could be an issue.
Overall, excellent though.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a sea view.

Haven't stayed at this hotel but have dined in their restaurant several times.

we visited this weekend as we were staying at a nearby hotel, and went to the Gwbert to watch the wales rugby 6 nations match and had a great hospitality there.

We walked in donning our welsh jerseys and as we sat on the scrumptious leather sofa's the barman asked us what we wanted to drink then he brought them to us, and to be honest he was so attentive that we never got up to get a single drink all afternoon as he delivered them to us in perfect timing !

the food served here is absolutely delicious served in stunning surroundings and decor , and the whole place is spotless.

On the Sunday we returned for lunch here before settling down to watch the England v Ireland rugby match and we had the pleasure of sharing the lounge area with the proprietors whom had been having their sunday lunch there !!

To be honest next time we stay in Gwbert we may stay here for a change.
