“What a place!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

Unfortunately we only stayed at Flodabay Farm for the one night during our tour of The Hebrides in our motorhome.
We enjoyed a magnificent drive along "The Golden Road" from Leverburgh,
On arrival we were greeted by Tony who showed us up to our pitch. The views were amazing, the landscape was like nothing we had ever seen before. Tony was very helpful and showed us all that the small quiet site had to offer.
After setting up we took a lovely walk over to one of the private lochs on the site where we could have used a canoe or dinghy or even fished!!
It would have been great to stay longer at this site. Each pitch had electric hook-up and water.
Free range eggs, bacon and sausage were available to buy from the farm.
All in all this had to the best site that we stayed on during our 'tour'. Well recommmended.

We spent 3 nights at Flodabay Farm which is set in the most beautiful surroundings.  Our hosts Sharon and Tony were most welcoming and went out of their way to assist in any way they could.   The accommodation was very comfortable, easily accesible and private.  The breakfasts were delicious and the evening meal prepared by Tony was excellent. There are 2 small lochs at the top of the farm which are set in stunningly beautiful surroundings. Tony made available a fishing rod for the brown trout resident in the lochs.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.

If you're looking for peace and quiet, a private inlet/bay and isolation, this is the place for you. Sharon and Tony are the perfect hosts, providing not only a friendly and professional service but also advice on the best places to visit on the island (some of which are breath taking). In addition to that, Sharon's breakfast includes a yoghurt and fruit platter starter (created by Tony) that is almost a work of art!

Wish we had booked a longer stay! Yes the stunning views are stunning, yes it is peaceful and tranquil, however the owners make this a very special place to stay. We stayed here for 3 nights with our caravan, yes the hill is a wee bit daunting for a caravan however we made it with a hefty 4 berth and a citreon c5 tourer 2L so go for it. There are no washroom/shower facilities yet so make sure you are self sufficient but there is a chemical disposal point which is quite rare on Harris. It is on good hard standing and pitches are level with Electric hook up and water available at each pitch. There is also a picnic bench at each pitch so you can make the most of the quiet, fresh air and views. Most of all Tony (the owner) is a gem of a host, he cannot do enough to make sure your stay is special and all the work he has put in from the walks (with picnic areas) to the golf driving range to the loan of fishing rods, boat etc gives you the feeling that you are a vip guest. The evening meals on offer (delivered to your caravan) were outstanding and more akin to a highly rated restaurant but here you have it in the comfort of your own surroundings. We were so impressed, we met motorhomers in Lewis and told them that this was 'a must stay' venue and gave them tonys card. Going to Harris ...... Book your stay at Flodabay, you won't regret it!

We stayed 3 nights at Flodabay Farm B&B and wished we could have stayed longer! The room has its own entrance, complete with picnic bench and superb coastal views. The room itself is spacious, clean and bright, complete with wifi, satellite TV and a fantastic shower room. Sharon is a brilliant host who makes you feel so welcome, and gave us great recommendations from places to eat to secret beaches on Harris' west coast!

The breakfast was served when it suited us. First course, a massive fresh fruit platter (easily fulfils your 5 a day!) served with yogurt. For seconds, there is a cooked Scottish breakfast (including some of the best eggs we have ever had - the chickens roam the garden) and toast with homemade marmalade and the best honey I have ever tasted -from their own bees.

The farm itself was easy to find and a handy base for exploring Harris. Would definitely recommend that you have dinner at the B&B one night. Our dinner was great, cooked by Tony and consisted of 3 courses, including local scallops and prawns right out of the bay (thanks to their youngest son), vegetables from their garden and sirloin steak from their own farm. A wonderful experience!

We came here on the recommendation of a fellow motorhome driver at a camp in Lewis. He couldnt speak highly enough of the owners and the view, so I rang up and managed to book us in for that night. We took the scenic route along Golden Road which was stunning and showed us all of the east side of Harris. However, we now realise that you can get to Flodabay quicker and easier by taking the west coast and coming off through Leverborough. Anyway, we were met at the gate by Tony and his son and directed up a steep hill to an amazing spot with a spectacular panorama. Our big 7 metre van coped fine with the hill. We were astonished at the spot...looking out over a bay and rugged mountains covered in heather. It was a very grey windy day when we arrived but it was still gorgeous. We instantly decided to stay an extra few days! It is Tony's extra attention to detail that make this place special though. The view comes with 2 private lochs which you can fish in. He brought up his own rod for my husband as it was more suitable for trout fishing. He provided us with oars and life jackets and we were told to take the boat or kayak out when ever we wanted! A really nice touch is the good quality picnic tables which come with each pitch, and others are dotted around in the mountains to make the most of the views. Hidden behind each pitch is a golf driving range complete with a barrel full of balls and clubs to whack away into the hills!!! That was surreal fun to do in gale force winds! Also, your dog has free range: there are no sheep in the 30 odd acres so he can run free in the heather and around the loch. It ticked so many boxes for us, included a strong phone signal. He only allows 5 pitches, infact we had it to ourselves for 2 days. Tony relies heavily on word of mouth as the site is hidden from the road. Water and electric are available but as yet, no loo or shower (though he has some great plans for these!) However, in a self contained van this was not an issue and disposal points are very handily located. On top of all this Tony offers a homecooked meal delivered to your van if ordered the day before. There was so much food in the package and it was lovely. I was able to watch the seals in the bay and scoured the sea view for dolphins. It was complete tranquility. My husband spent hours at the loch fishing and simply unwinding. Perfect. We will be back.

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis at Flodabay Farm with some of the most welcoming hosts imaginable. There is one room which housed a double and a single bed - perfect for our family group. The views from the terrace area for our exclusive use was great. The amazing fruit platter start to our breakfasts was brilliantly unique. I thought the first one that came through was for all of us. I would recommend the excellent meals that you can pre-order before your visit. The food is personally produced or caught and is very fresh.
