“Amazing hospitality on the Isle of Harris”

We were made to feel so welcome by Val and Peter. We knew we had picked the right place when we were offered a welcome cup of tea and freshly made slice of cake on arrival. Our hosts were fantastic and made us feel very much at home. The views from the house are amazing and the breakfast is exceptional. If you are looking for somewhere to stay near Leverburgh then look no further!

We stayed at carminish house at the middle point of our tour down the islands. The location is perfect and the view from our bedroom window was stunning. The house is immaculate and Val obviously takes a lot of pride in keeping the house clean. And that brings me to the best part of carminish house, val herself! What a lovely host, to say she cant do enough for you is an understatement. Val immediately makes you feel welcome and we were constantly topped up with hot tea and her beautiful banana bread. It was the highlight of our tour to stay with Val and the story of how Peter and herself ended up at carminish was inspirational to us and would be to anyone hoping to make a move to the island perminantly!

Val and Pete were the most friendly and welcoming B&B hosts I have ever encountered. We were greeted with a slice of cake and constantly plied with tea! There were many little instances of them going the extra mile to help us. The room was spotless and generously equipped. The breakfasts were superb and colked with a tender attention to detail. To top it all, their house looks out over a truly amazing and beautiful sight - the Sound of Harris. I cannot imagine that you could do better in Leverburgh, but I would also say that this is a B&B that it is well worth going out of your way for.

We selected this B & B as we wanted to be close to the Leverburgh ferry and we needed to leave early in the morning.

Val, our host, was extremely welcoming to us. We had a long drive to get here and were made to feel very welcome and at home.

Our room was lovely, very clean and comfortable with a spectacular view of the islands. Val was so friendly, we were on first name terms with her and had a nice evening chatting to other guests in the lounge.

Breakfast was wonderful. Fresh fruit salad, cereal, plenty of toast and hot croissants and a full cooked breakfast which was delicious.

We loved the personal friendly touch and the warmth of our host Val made this very short visit so worthwhile.

Loved staying here, if we come up again - we would definitely stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for the "puffin room" if available.

Arriving by ferry from Berneray rather early we were at Carminish House at already 10.30. But that was no problem for Val and Pete at all! Of course the rooms were not ready yet, but we got a delicious homemade cake and coffee and very good advice for the rest of the day. When we got back at the end of the day, the room turned out to be wonderful! Beautifully decorated with an eye for detail. During our one night stay we had a few interesting talks with both Val and Pete, so when we finally said goodbye the next day after a good night's sleep it looked as if we stayed much longer! Val truly loves running a B&B. She is so dedicated to the work ans so willing to help you in any possible way, it was really heart-warming. And her breakfast was absolutely superb. For instance her salmon omelette was delicous! When we continued our hiking holiday on the Hebrides we even had some nice homemade cake in our rucksacks a generous farewell present from Val. This B&B is a gem! Together with Ardnastruban house, Seal View and Caloraidh the best place to be during our four week holiday in NW Scotland.

This B&B is located in one of the most beautiful spots I have seen in my many travels. The Outer Hebrides are beautiful in general, Isle of Harris perhaps the most so, and the views from the B&B were spectacular. Plus, it's very close to the ferry terminal in Leverburgh, so that was convenient. We stayed for 2 nights, but wished we could stay longer! The breakfasts were delicious, with lots of choices; the house itself and its rooms are beautiful and well-furnished, and the hosts welcomed us enthusiastically. They gave us lots of helpful advice and had many books and maps on hand to help us plan our outings.

We stayed in Carminish House for 4 nights. It's got the most beautifull views right on the edge of the Sound of Harris, very nice hosts (Pete and Val) and for walkers and nature-lovers and food-lovers everything you want. Breakfast is delicious with lots of fresh fuit, thank you Val! We also appreciated your chocolate fudge cake that kept us going in the hills!
The beds are great. The food in the Anchorage Restaurant in Leverburgh really good! And within walking distance even after a long day in the hills. Rodel Hotel also has very decent food and a very nice although a little longer walk along the coast to get there.
The beaches and hills of Harris are in a league of their own, we've been there already 4 times and hope to be back. And hope to be back in Carminish House, it's a gem!
