“A perfect stay!”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

We stayed here for a couple of nights purely by chance and were we delighted! The staff and owners are so friendly and most happy to help whether with advice or any queries at all about the Ullapool area. The hotel is so clean - in fact, spotless. Breakfast was excellent, a good variety of food and if you have the cooked breakfast it's delicious.
Although the hotel has no licence, there is a lovely lounge where you are welcome to sit and have a glass of wine/coffee etc. and admire the beautiful views across the Loch.
Dogs are most welcome and there is an absolutely fantastic back garden for them to play in, leading down to the water where you can wander along the stoney beach. The hotel has wifi, a good connection.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to come back tomorrow!

Thanks

Henry and Charlie

Good luck at the races tomorrow Max

The situation and welcome you will find in this hotel is second to none. It is conveniently positioned to be away from the bustle of the friendly fishing village yet quite near enough to take a leisurely walk to join in all the extra fun of the pubs and restaurants and even the odd ceilidh! We were a fairly large group of skiff rowers and supporters and Ishbel Florence (who owns and runs the hotel with her sister) was incredibly accommodating when we asked if we could hold a picnic on her lawn. She served out the whole thing with many special touches of her own and it was such a success we repeated it the next night and she and her husband hosted a barbecue for us all on our penultimate night. The rest of our team joined us for these and I know Ishbel had also offered the same overwhelming hospitality to another team staying in her hotel at the same time. We came away with warm and lasting memories of this beautiful place and the lovely people we met.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Loch. There was a little noise when everyone is using the bathroom...

My girlfriend and I arrived at Harbour Lights staying for just one night. We were checked into our room very quickly by the friendly lady at the desk. We stayed in room 016, after seeing previous reviews about rooms being old fashioned and dated we were a little apprehensive, however the room was lovely, absolutely spotless, bed was made up to a high standard with chocolates on the pillow which was a nice touch. The bathroom door was a bit dodgy but im sure that can be easily fixed. The only thing we never liked was that we only had full fat milk in the rooms, think skimmed or at least semi skimmed would be better. Breakfast the next morning was delicous, one very important thing missing though.....potato scone......Its not a scottish breakfast without a potato scone :( All in all we had a fantastic stay and will be back...Also we want to adopt Max, the dog!

Room Tip: 2nd floor facing the loch, 016 was great

The hotel is a family run business and all guests are greeted with a genuine smile and made to feel comfortable as the proprieters care and that really makes a big difference. A walk in the garden gives a great view of the harbour. Very friendly and exceptionally helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Ice bucket was provided to chill white wine and nibbles were prepared for my birthday celebration. easy to walk into town and lots of carparking. large lounge areas are very comfortable. I will return

Room Tip: book a room facing the Loch. No licence to sell alcohol, so bring your own drink.

The Harbour lights, although visually dated, has been a great place to stay on two of our three visits to Ullapool this year. The rooms are clean and comfortable - some have fine views across the Loch. Obviousy it a question to ask when booking the prices reflect the rooms. The welcome is friendly and helpful and the cost is very reasonable when compared with other places in Ullapool. Although more on the edge of the town, it is still an easy walk into Ullapool. Breakfast excellent, want more toast , coffee etc just ask. Next time we visit no doubt we'll stay here again .

Room Tip: There are different standards of rooms you just have to ask
