Nice place thats a few minutes walk from the coast. Adria greeted me on the day of arrival and was very helpful with information and any problems. The place was neat and clean. The kitchen was well equipped with a nice coffee machine and the coffee to go with it. She even took the time to buy some milk.
The only issue i had was the wifi was quite slow at times. Would still recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
It isnt always easy to find a good quality holiday let where pets are welcome too, but we definitely found one in The Hawthorns.
We went to the beach via a different route every time and our Lakeland terrier was in paradise.
Thanks to Adria for the welcoming bottle of wine and lovely snuggly beds.
We booked a 2 night break at 1 The Hawthorns, as part of a 1 week holiday. We are keen golfers and had booked rounds at Gullane 2 and North Berwick West.
The cottage is finished to a high standard and had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable.
We were welcomed by Adria and settled in for our stay.
Highly recommended for a break in this lovely part of Scotland.
We stayed a week during the October 2017 school holidays. For a family of 3 the accommodation - an annexe to the owners house - was ideal. Everything was clean and in good working order, and the central heating was toasty. I think a family of 4 would be ok, but perhaps a little bit tight for comfortable seating in the lounge / diner. The area is quiet and relaxing. We found plenty to keep us occupied all week around East Lothian, including Dunbar swimming pool (good flume and wave machine), North Berwick Seabird Centre, town and beach, Gullane pitch and putt and beach, The Museum of Flight, the East Linton Family Farm Park (initially seemed expensive at £15 each, but kept our 8 yo daughter v entertained for 4 hours, so decent value really), the John Muir Country Park for dogwalking, and much more. Owner Adria v friendly when we saw her and nice touch with welcoming pint of milk and a decent bottle of red .
Really enjoyed our break at the Hawthorns. Excellent for access to the beach, comfortable rooms, quite and charming.
Adria who runs the place is lovely and very helpful. Can't thank her enough for her hospitality.
We found the flat very comfortable, extremely well equipped , up to date and modern. It's warm-there is central heating and an added bonus of wood burning stove. The quality of bed linen and towels is quite remarkable and the flat is beautifully clean. It's also designed to allow maximum light. We have a dog that travels everywhere with us. We have visited twice already in a short space of time and intend to return in the not too distant future. The dog sees 1 The Hawthorns as her second home and settles so quickly. The location is perfect for everyone, young or old, being so close to the beautiful award winning beach. Gullane is the perfect little upmarket 'back water' for those seeking peace and relaxation. It's also paradise for dog lovers, whether you like to meet them or whether you own one! There are dog friendly pubs and restaurants. For some magical reason I always sleep so well at the flat-maybe it's the fresh air or the amazing mattress! Strongly recommended but don't all flock to it at once as we want another go!!
