We were renting a house in Aberlady in mid October - and had received a recommendation for this restaurant from a B&B we had stayed at in the Borders - rather last minute we called to ask if they could fit 7 of us in and due to a cancellation, we were fortunate enought be be able to get in.
and fortunate is the right word. Dinner was just lovely - each of the dishes were excellent and the Thai soup was outstanding. Several of our group had just paid a fortune to eat at a 2 starred Michelin restaurant in London and the unanimous decision of that group was that this was the better dinner. Our waitress was charming and provided really pleasant service. A really great experience. Thank you!

It was just a gastronomic delight - everything hand prepared and each course complimented the next. Good advice on wine, excellent interesting breads with the food. The choice is limited deliberately so that the food can be carefully prepared and presented. Much less expensive that you woudl expect from such a "Cordon Bleu" establishment. The restaurant is small so it would be advisable to book. Also make sure the team knows if you are vegetarion so that somehing can be made specailly for you! We have been several times and ALWAYS loved every bite!!

Situated in one of East Lothian's lovely villages, La Potiniere is such a special little place - modest and unassuming, but has a menu and ambiance that many a Michelin starred establishment would envy. Mary and Keith are skilled chefs of the highest standard and dining in their petite restaurant makes you feel as if you are personal guests rather than paying customers. The beautifully cooked dishes are presented with an elegant touch, and feature many locally sourced ingredients. The house wines are well chosen and of good value, but if you are celebrating a special occasion they have an excellent choice of wines at the upper end too.

This is not cheap but is just wonderful for that speciaal occasion. Food is reasonably priced and is excellent but the wines are pricey. You need to book well in advance as the restaurant is not very big but has nice feeling.
