“Well worth it...a wonderful place to stay.”

Although the La Terrasse is linked to time shares we enjoyed three wonderful nights as an add on to a week cruising the islands. The price was well below other local 1 bedroom / kitchen suites. The bathroom is a bit small but everything else is super. You can see that they are working hard to finish the extras in the facility. Our room was large, clean, well air-conditioned and offered a wonderful view of sunset beach. Despite the concern about the airport and the air traffic we never once heard a plane while in our room. The service and hospitality was A+ ! Thank you for making our stay so nice. The proximity to Maho and the casino's will add to your stay. Be sure to explore the surrounding area if you can. We did not eat on site of the Maho complex at all but did use the grocery located by the basement parking garage exit! Prices were better than in some other St. Martin stores. We would definately stay there again! Feel free to email us if you have additional questions.

it was our 1st trip there and the people our great. we went in july and the water was a little rough but it was great. the hotel was very clean and we were treated excellent by the staff. everyone was very friendly. We will definately come back to st martin again but we will stay at another hotel around simpson bay. Although i did like the la terasse I would just like a place a little more fancy like the royal palm or the pelican or divi. and if you need any jewelry we made out great in phillipburg with grand jewlers. Go see Ash and tell him rick and genine sent you. He helped us out so much. and you must try the homemade banana rum from a liquor store in simpson bay and the man and his wife were great! They even told us were to go eat and eat good for my birthday. I hope this helps everyone out if you have any questions just email me.

Our stay at the Royal Islander was also our first visit to St Maarten...the resort is located on Maho Bay and you will read comments from others about its proximity to the approach path for Queen Juliana airport...whether you think that's a plus or minus is a matter of personal taste...as a private pilot and life-long aviation enthusiast, it just added to the scenery--others may disagree...but the air traffic was not constant and most of the large a/c from Europe arrived and departed during certain times of the week...so it's not like being situated next to LAX or JFK...we found the resort to be very clean and comfortable...spacious bathroom and friendly staff....it is convenient (i.e., walking distance) to several shops, restaurants and a casino and we had access to an enclosed parking garage for our rental SUV...great pool (and pool bar)...the beach was wonderful and there is a small reef not too far out that made for some enjoyable snorkeling....all in all, a relaxing, comfortable resort and we would definitely consider staying there during a future visit.....

I stayed at the Royal Islander La Terrasse Resort in April 18th-23rd, 2004. The stay was excellent. The hotel is nice and new, the rooms are very clean and roomy. They have full kitchens and living rooms. The staff was very nice and curtious...anything you need you have it in a flash. Lots of towels that were replenished daily, and they even give you clean beach towels as often as you need. The hotel is in a great location, right across from the Royal Islander La Plage and the Maho Resort Hotel. La Terrasse is deffinately more low key though, the hotels across the street are a lot noisier with more people at the pool and music playing into the evening. The LT pool was big and clean and very relaxing. The Maho area has many restaurants very close by, just a walk across the street, along with a Casino, nightclub, and shops. The Maho area is small and you can get around in a few minutes. The great thing is that the La Terrasse hotel is right next to the airport runway, so while sitting at the pool of the hotel, you can see the planes landing! It is such an amazing experience! I would deffinately recommend going there. You will be glued to the plane viewing platform at the hotel and on the Maho beach watching planes land and take off!!! Don't forget your camera and lots of film! The noise it not a factor because the rooms are soundproofed. The hotel has one restaurant that is open for dinner only, I would recommend going out for dinner, and using the grocery store located right at the hotel for breakfast and lunch, the prices are very reasonable. Also the hotel has an underground parking, so no worry if you want to park your rental car. My friend and I rented a scooter, which was really great because it was a lot easier to find parking anywhere! It only took us an hour to scooter around the whole island! I really enjoyed my weeks stay at this hotel, it is so close to both Maho, Simpson Bay, and Mullet Bay beaches, and This was a dream vacation! Plus get ready to meet so many people from all over the world! It really is "the friendly island"!!!

The Royal Islander (La Plage) at Maho Beach was absolutely beautiful.
We stayed in a 1 bedroom condo with a full kitchen and it was perfect for our week long December stay. The room was immaculate, spacious, and well appointed. The balcony provided a beautiful view of the ocean and the pool. The staff were friendly ("The Reverend" brings half-price drinks at happy hour) and the beach was white and sandy with turquoise water... it was right from a postcard. Reading about the planes landing so close might discourage you if you are from a large city like me; but it's not like a large metropolitain airport... when the planes come (infrequently and never at night) its actually almost an event; you can watch them come in from miles away and having them pass right by you is surreal. Just a short walk down the beach you can catch some outdoor live entertainment (look up the Bamboo Bernie's website) just about every night and drink $2 Coronas, or you can check out the casino and the festive restaurants (Cheri's) just steps away. The resort is not isolated so you get the best of both worlds. I recommend renting a car and checking out the entire island, for example go shopping in Philipsburg and snorkelling off of Pinel Island. The new Royal Islander across the street from this one (La Terasse i think) was under construction, but i would choose La Plage iif you have a choice since it's directly on the beach. Go ahead and choose this resort.. you won't be sorry!

Great island with a great big personality.

What can I saw about the Royal Islander club. The people are great, food sumptious, cocktails out of this world. The fresh lobster from the onsite restaurant is a must.

The resorts beach is at the end of Princess Juliana airports main runway. Can expect to be moved from beach during aircraft arrivals as the aircraft are as low as 70 feet upon final landing.

Didnt deter from the great holiday I had. Would deffinately go back.

Went there for our honeymoon and had a great time. Royal Islander is a very good place to stay. Clean, relaxed and beautiful. St. Martin is a nice place to vacation. The beaches, restaurants, water activities, casinos, shopping and people make it nice not to mention the weather.

If you go, check out Cheri's which is across the street from the Royal Islander. They have a group there that wil keep you dancing, laughing and having fun. Go to Phillipsburg to shop for jewelry. some of the restaurants that you could check out are Turtle Pier, Laguna's, Lee's, The Boat House. They are all reasonable and have good food. On the French side they have more expensive restaurants if you like. If you want real inexpensive but good, check out a place called The Talk Of The Town on the French side. Some people call it Roadside. So you won't be surprised like we were, take note if you plan to go to a movie while your there...they have intermission during the picture.

I could give you more but I won't so you can experience the adventure of it for yourself. you will enjoy yourself. Have a good trip.
