Stayed at La Terrasse Resort between Christmas and New Years. We rented a one-bedroom unit that was very clean with a pleasant view. You can see at least a little bit of ocean from every room at this resort. They charge you $ 30.00 dollars for 6 nights to park your car in their garage. (To really enjoy the island you need a car. ) At the front of the resort, when you step out the front doors you are immediately greeted with a very busy street, restaurants and casinos. It has a very Las Vegas feeling to it. There is a grocery store just down the street a couple hundred feet where you can buy anything you want for eating in. They even have a few hot food selections every day. There is also an ATM machine right outside. The front desk people were very pleasant upon check-in - I was early ( about 2 p.m.) but they still let me have my room as they had just finished cleaning it. They do not have a front desk person from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. You have to call across the street to the La Plage is you need any info. The decor is light colors with "bamboo" style furniture and caribbean paintings on the walls. They have a moderately expensive restaurant on the property where you can sit (open air ) and watch whatever is going on down on the street. All of this I was pretty happy with.
NOW. If you dont mind the constant whine of jet engines from early in the morning to about 10:00 p.m. every night then you will like this resort. Granted, you cannot hear the planes when you have the doors shut and you are inside; but if you want to sit outside on your patio or balcony this will be an issue. This resort sits smack dab at the end of the runway where the planes turn around and rev the engines and then wait for permission to take off. The first part of the week this really didnt bother me but it was getting "old" by the time we were to leave. Also when walking around on our balcony we noticed that the bottoms of our feet got very black. I imagine this is from the jet exhaust - I never had any on my clothes from the chairs tho. If you dont plan to spend time sitting on the balcony ( you really should be at one of the beautiful beaches anyway ) or you enjoy planes, then this is a very nice resort to stay at. It is close to lots of fun stuff and the beach is across the street behind La Plage. You just follow the sidewalk down between the La Plage and the Sonesta and you're there. Takes all of maybe 5 minutes. Honestly? Aside from the planes we enjoyed our stay at La Terrasse a great deal.
