Description: Situated beside the main A75, just outside the village of Ringford and some 3 miles inland from the artists town of Kirkcudbright. The restaurant is in what was the local primary and junior school for the village and surrounding area and closed in 1977. Originally opened around 1983 as a tea-room, we are now only the third owners having taken it over in 2006. Our background is in retail delicatessens as much as in restaurant food and when you visit you will see that in the refrigerated display in the restaurant. We are proud of our food and almost everything that can be made on the premises is - the list is long but includes our own bread, all the cakes, desserts and traybakes, home cooked ham, our own jam, cranberry sauce, hummus and much more. We are open from 10 am serving food all day through to last orders at 6 pm ( 4 pm some days in the winter months) but closed on a Wednesday. Whilst we are open all year we do close for a break in November and go into hibernation for January.

A favourite with our family when we are in the area. An extensive menu which is freshly prepared. The staff are always extremely polite and very attentive, no matter how busy and keep the tables and surroundings very clean. Great care is taken with every detail when presenting the meals. There is a very extensive range of puddings and cakes on order, which is a lovely way to finish your meal. A word of caution, at the time we went we noticed that every little extra cost more money - £1.00 for a coffee refill (but they don't tell you that as they offer to refill), extra for cream or ice cream on your pudding and if you are a family then these costs all add up.

Very pleasant staff and the salads looked great, our Son was very impressed with his sandwiches and beans, we had a delicious Tuscan bean stew with side salad, just filled the empty bellies after a morning mountain biking at Kirroughtree.

Popped in for a brief coffee and snack. Was surprised to find a lovely restaurant with a good range of fresh, local food. Will definitely try a more substantial meal if we are back in the area

Stopped for lunch here midweek on our holidays, They have a children's menu. The staff were friendly. The food was tasty. Burgers were good, and my child's HAM egg and chips went down a treat (we were even asked how she would like her egg cooking. It does say ham on the menu and that's what we got (did not expect gammon like one reviewer). Walnut tart was VERY nice.

The décor looked more formal than we imagined, but it was clean and comfortable.
