We booked a week here in our trailer tent. The kids at school - people at work when we went. It was such a peacefull week. The weather was fantastic - not had a drop of rain all week.
The staff helpful & polite. The site was spotlessly clean in the toilet block. The new dish washing block in the tent field was also clean. (could have done with a bin in there though) All In all a very nice site.
On the Friday before we were leaving on the Saturday, more campers turned up. The only problem there was noise till 02:00 am. I know this is not the fault of the site, but I was glad I was going on the Saturday.

As you can see from the photos it was quiet when we arrived there.

Stayed for two nights camping, and the site + facilities + staff + location - could not be faulted. The shower / toilet block was clean, the showers wonderfully warm (after a cold night!) and the camp itself was well laid out, well kept and in a beautiful location - 10 minutes drive from the darkest parts of Galloway Forest. Castle Douglas - just 10 minutes the other way - is a designated "food town" the only in Scotland, and is a lovely quiet town.

We only booked for three nights in our camper van but after the first one we decided to stay on an extra two even though it meant we would be really tight on time.
We were there during April when the site was quiet but the service was full on.
We parked on the new terraced area overlooking the loch, spectacular position.
The very best showers we have ever come across, spotlessly clean HUGE shower rooms, a full baby change unit in both male and female sides and in the disabled facility. (we must point out we didn't need them though) and staffed by real enthusiastic people making your stay brilliant.
The shop was great, all the bits and pieces you always need with an information room open 24hrs so you can pick up on where to visit.
FREE launching points for your kayaks, (Some places charge £20.00p a week per boat for this and gets a bit much if there are two boats to launch)
A really wonderful site with astounding views, especially if you are a paddler.
We will definately be back.

Many thanks to the team at Loch Ken. Paul and Caroline from York.

I was asked by friends whether I would look after their two children aged 6 and 8 for a couple of days, I wanted to take them somewhere really enjoyable just for the day and local. We went to Loch Ken Holiday Park, taking tent, stove etc, change of clothes and towels - just in case!) and two meals. We set up camp, the children had so much to choose from, swings, slide, climbing frames, football pitch, large areas of field and the loch, of course.
The toilet facilities are spotless (there are showers too of course) The children had a wonderful time running from one play area to another while I had fun - remembering how to erect the tent, a Caranex vehicle awning.
We hired a rowing boat for an hour ( you can hire them for longer), we were supplied with life jackets, (even if you can swim, if you have children with you, its good to wear one).Rowing the boat was such fun, both children learnt to row, which they found so exciting. We wandered along the Loch side, looking at the birds including ducks geese and swans, with an occasional Red Kite gliding above us.
We were there for 7 or more hours, it was a very special day.
There is a very small charge for the day, and extra of course for the boat hire.
Over the last couple of years I have both camped and rented a holiday home at Loch Ken Holiday Park, the latter are beautifully appointed and very comfortable.
A lovely place to visit.
