A couple of nights whilst exploring the area and travelling on the Jacobite Steam train. Having stayed before, I was keen to see how the hotel had developed. The answer was not much. The lounge area seems a bit of an after thought with the attached conservatory always pressed into action for eating. Food was good and service attentive and efficient, however the Buffett breakfast was mixed with cool food, bacon oven baked, though the choice was good. No lift, which in a modern built building is surprising, though our luggage was taken up for us.
Room was fresh, with a lovely area with bunks for kiddies, however the room taken up with this add on would have allowed for sitting at the window if you didn’t need a family room . Some of the exterior finishes are rotting and the windows a bit temperamental, but the views are exceptional.
Noise from the breakfast/ dining room was annoying as there is a minstrel gallery open to the corridor above - no lie ins with coach parties heading off early doors.
If the maintenance could be attended to, I would definitely return though.More
