“Second visit - excellent”

This really is one of the best pubs in the area. The food is excellent much better than usual pub grub. The pub itself is charming with wooden beams, low ceilings and a fireplace. Beer on tap good too. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Hard to beat

A little difficult to find but what a find, lovely little pub off the beaten track. We arrived for our table a little late after getting lost, friends who had already arrived went into the pub and asked a local if they wouldn't mind talking to us to navigate us there, what a gent !!!! when we finally arrived the welcome was friendly and the atmosphere was warm and cosy. Food was tasty and very well presented, all in all was a very relaxing place to spend an evening eating good food.

We had a wonderful lunch here in this quaint pub which is in a out-of-the way place. The food was the best we have had in a pub for a long time. The menu is interesting, the food well-presented and the staff were friendly. Certainly well-worth the visit.

We have eaten here many times in the past and the food has been very good. Visited on my wifes birthday at lunchtime and found the food, recommended by the bar staff, to be tasteless. We don't like to complain but when asked if we enjoyed our meal we said it was very poor. No apology was made or any compensation offered. we paid our bill and left. Yet another good pub gone bad. Living on past reputation by new owners I suspect. Shame.

I must say for a quiet Monday, the welcome was superb. We booked a table and arrived to find the charm of a quietly blazing fire, and all the accoutrements of an old fashioned but charming pub.. The bits and pieces on the walls are fascinating as is what seems to be an original layout of the pub. So nice that it hasn't been too modernised. The menu is so tempting that we went for three courses after a delicious real ale aperitif. The food did not disappoint. Wild mushrooms followed by spatchcock partridge then apple and quince crumble with real crème anglaise... you could see plenty of vanilla, all came together to make one feel well fed and extremely satisfied. So thankyou to the staff. Well worth the trek from Dorset to get there.

Room Tip: We didn't stay but the accommodation looked charming

Having used major hotel chains for business trips for many years it has been a very good experience to use this Inn for a week long stay.

Doesn't have the usual business trip feel - which has been welcomed. Extremely friendly service from the pub staff, superb food with a fast service.

Would recommend this Inn to anyone purely on the strength of the pub food.

Found this pub en route back to London through recommendation from a nearby restaurant. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend it. It was a bit hard to find but it was worth it. Very nice, quaint old pub.
