“A true gem!”
Reviewed July 30, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Six of us stayed here for my birthday celebration and it surpassed our expectations, which were high to begin with having seen the photos and read the reviews. We were welcomed at the station and looked after incredibly well throughout our stay, including a day's mountain biking led by Ian himself! The rooms are immaculate; high spec throughout with an amazing attention to detail. No expense has been spared here and the location is perfect. If you like walking, mountain biking, eating out, drinking, or just relaxing this is the place for you. The train station is just a ten minute walk away, giving easy access to places like Ludlow and Shrewsbury. Again, Ian provided great advice on where to go and what to do. Thanks for a brilliant stay!

“A beautifully appointed apartment”
Reviewed April 21, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We booked the penthouse apartment at Arden House for a long weekend away with friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. Firstly, the area is stunning. The house is minutes walk from the most beautiful hills which can be viewed from the property. We didn't use the cars at all whilst staying there and were able to walk for miles from the front door. The apartment itself has been beautifully converted into the roof of an impressive 'Arts & Crafts' house. It has its own private entrance and is totally self contained. The interior is decorated to a high standard with excellent facilities and extremely comfortable beds. It was also spotlessly clean. We were lucky enough to be able to have drinks on the roof turret despite it having snowed earlier in the day.
Ian and Julie are very hospitable and available at any time if needed, otherwise you have complete privacy. We would thoroughly recommend this property and hope to return.

One of our best ever holidays. Luxurious apartment with fantastic walking from the door and the bonus of the little roof terrace. Friendly welcome and great entertainment from Cato the Ninja cat! Worked very well for adults and teenagers.

“Can't stop smiling”
Reviewed October 29, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We stayed for two nights in late October with extended family; three couples.

We're repeat guests having previously stayed with Ian and Julie two years ago when they were still providing B&B. We usually come up to Church Stretton at least once a year and in fact the only reason we did not stay with them in 2014 is because they were closed for their renovation.

The renovation is superb and the penthouse is well worth it. It is more than spacious and feels that way, which is surprising given that it is an upper floor of the property.

You have your own car park and two points of access (two paths), but the benefit of your own separate entrance.

The fact that you also have the turret with safety railing and fantastic views of the surrounding hills is yet another fantastic feature.

The rooms are set out with one main bedroom (my wife and I debated whether the bed was superking or queen as we've never had the joy of either) and large ensuite with shower, one second bedroom with a bed for two (I can't remember if it was double or king; looked the latter) and a third bedroom with a bunk bed, perfect for kids. The two bedrooms without ensuites have the benefit of a large bathroom in the main hall with shower/bath.

The real delight is the fact that Ian and Julie have maintained that focus on customer care we enjoyed when we last stayed, whilst now being a self-catering operation. Absolute perfection; there when you need them, more than happy to have a good chinwag when you want to, but otherwise you're left to get on at your own pace.

For those who need it, the internet is VERY fast and no issues with streaming. 3G coverage in the area is good if you have mobile broadband, but you honestly don't need it.

The living space is finished to a very high quality and the fire unit they have in place is just what we needed have a five hour drive up from the South.

For those worried about the upper floor being short on head room, don't be. I am 6'10" and did not have to duck once, even in the ensuite in the main bedroom.

We will be back again.

Dear AJMD .. Wow what a review and so wide ranging and I'm sure other readers will benefit from your comments . Its particularly special for us as you have stayed with us before we built the extra rooms and its good to know we can still offer guests what they want since we have moved to self catering. Your comments are very humbling and rewarding and we thank you very much for taking the time. We very much hope to see you again in the future.

“Beautiful penthouse apartment in a perfect location”
Reviewed September 14, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

I stayed in September with my hubby-to-be, another couple (friends from school) and another lady (whose partner sadly couldn't make it!). We had come down to visit our friend who lives in nearby Shrewsbury and meet her new little boy. We found Arden house by chance on holidaylettings and it was perfect for our needs. It has space for 3 cars and sleeps 6 with plenty of space for socialising in the big living area and kitchen. The rooftop turret has amazing views and Ian and Julie were very welcoming. We could happily recommend and would love to come back another time :)
Thanks again!
