“Away from it all”
Reviewed September 7, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We've just returned from the Larches and enjoyed a very good short break despite rain most days! Sara and Mark have really put the effort in and the cabin is comfy and very well appointed. The bed is particularly spacious; it's quite firm but comfortable. We were able to cater in when we wanted to as the fridge is large and all appliances work well. There's a terrific deli (Van Doesburg's) and a large Co-op (open 7am-10pm) in the centre of Church Stretton, which is only a 10-15 min walk (depending on speed). It's worth taking a torch/mobile light in the evening as some of the cut-through alleyways can be dark, as well as the last 100ft of steep private drive from Watling Street to the property. However, once you reach the grounds there's helpful touch control lighting set up, leading to the log cabin.

In Church Stretton we'd highly recommend Jaipur (one of the best Indian restaurants we've experienced) and the Housemans restaurant. Nearby there are lots of National Trust places, interesting villages and pubs, great walking and views. The wonderful towns of Ludlow and Shrewsbury are on the doorstep.

Not to be missed are:
Carding Mill Valley - we did the very pretty stream side walk leading to waterfall. We visited after days of rain and the ground was amazingly mostly dry.
St Chad's church in Shrewsbury (spectacular stained glass) and Shrewsbury Park which is across the road (the dingle is simply stunning).

We hope to return, but dates at the cabin disappear quickly.

We stayed here for five nights. On arrival we were greeted by Sarah and her lovely cat and shown to The Larches. Sarah even carried my bags, now that is what I call service! We were shown how everything worked. The Larches is in a lovely setting .I expected to walk down the main road into Church Stretton but there were paths cutting through so not far at all. Church Stretton is a lovely place and the people are very friendly. The Long Mynd is beautiful and if you go to All Stretton and up the lane signposted "Village Hall" you will come to a large parking area with lovely walks.Visit the Yew Tree pub and see the landlord in his sarong..read the reviews!! The Larches is a lovely comfortable base to see a beautiful part of our English countryside. We will be back!

“A perfect Winter wonderland log cabin, in English Summer countryside”

I booked this as a retreat for my partner and I to celebrate our anniversary. It was wonderfully reviewed, so I had high expectations, but was still really pleasantly surprised by the unique charm of this retreat. Set apart from the main house, this beautiful log cabin feels like the most secluded place in the world; with picturesque views over rolling hills. However, in reality it is a quick journey into quaint Church Stretton, with lovely shops and walks, alongside useful things like a large Co-op which we used to supply our self-catered weekend. If you prefer to eat out however, there was a selection of unusual places, alongside fish-and-chip shops and Indians. Mark and Sara were very helpful, and included lists of things to do, and vouchers and codes to enjoy local cuisine and trips at a discount.
Would happily have stayed longer, such good value! The internet was very good too, an unexpected bonus!

“Fantastic retreat that feels more Alpine than Church Stretton”
Reviewed July 21, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Myself, my wife and our 3 month old baby stayed at the Larches for 3 nights and we enjoyed every moment there. The accommodation was first rate, the setting was delightful and our hosts (Sara and Mark) were quite simply perfect in their treatment of us. We couldn't have asked for more. A short walk gets you to Church Stretton High Street with a few good places to eat and drink, low key and very friendly. A short drive gets you into the Shropshire hills which are a stunning backdrop to Church Stretton and the Larches. Wholeheartedly recommend a stay here, try it because you won't be disappointed.

“Beautiful chalet!”
Reviewed July 11, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

My boyfriend and I spent a week-end at The Larches. The place is beautiful and has amazing views on the landscape. The chalet is warm and cosy and made us feel very comfortable. The centre of Church Stretton is only a few minutes walk, so it is easy to access pubs, supermarket...

Sara was very welcoming even before we arrived at the chalet and made sure we had everything. She also gave us tips as to where to go in Church Stretton and what to do, we really appreciated that. She won't tell you but she cooks brownies very well!

We wish we could have stayed at The Larches for longer!

“Ideal getaway”
Reviewed June 28, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My husband and I have just returned from a week at ‘The Larches’. The chalet was homely, warm, comfortable and well equipped, with views over Church Stretton and The Lond Mynd. Sara and Marc are a lovely couple and made us feel very welcome without being intrusive. ‘The Larches’ is within easy walking distance of Church Stretton and Carding Mill Valley and also ideally situated for exploring Shropshire – Attingham Park, Stokesay Castle, Wroxeter Roman City, The Long Mynd to name but a few. If you are looking for somewhere to relax and ‘chill out’ then this is the place for you. Jill H

“Beautiful lodge with lovely views”
Reviewed June 20, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

The Larches is a delightful little lodge with all the things you need for a short stay, close to all amenities. Mark and Sara are a lovely couple who would do anything to help with your stay. I would highly recommend staying.
