“Lovely little lodge in an excellent location for walking/cycling.”
Reviewed September 25, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

The lodge was fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We stayed for 7 nights and cooked at the lodge 5 of the nights. There are however, several options for takeaways and pubs a 5 minute walk away. The location was perfect for us for a walking and cycling holiday. Highly recommend the Shuttle bus which goes from Church Stretton and does a circular tour round the Long Mynd and other extremely scenic areas, allowing you to jump on and off when desired.

Sara could not have been any more hospitable and was extremely helpful from the second we booked the lodge.

We had a lovely week here and would definitely consider coming back again one summer in the future.

Liked best: The privacy of it being one lone lodge with its own access and outside areas. Also, a great bed!
Liked least: This wasn't a problem for us but the lodge is at the top of a very steep drive way which some people may not be able to walk up/down.

“You've got to stay here”
Reviewed September 19, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Simply brilliant, from the warm welcome to the extremely well equipped larches cabin, to the wonderful surrounding countryside, everything you need for a relaxing break or holiday. Walks from the door in the beautiful Shropshire hills, or a short train journey to Shrewsbury or Ludlow, this really is a place to try. All we could have asked for in the way of luxury accomadation, and a wonderful host to go with it! A real home from home, and look forward to coming back for another visit...

“Perfect location for a long weekend”

We booked a last minute special offer at The Larches. The cabin is spotlessly clean, very well equipped and great value for money. It's an ideal location from which to explore the beautiful Shropshire Hills. Our car sat on the drive for the whole weekend as the walks to the Long Mynd are easily accessible by foot and both Ludlow and Shrewsbury can be reached by train. There is a varied selection of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms in Church Stretton. If you are a real ale lover try The Kings Head and we can recommend the 'Grazing Menu' at Housmans. As some of the other reviews have pointed out the cabin is close to the owner's house but we didn't find this a problem. Sara was a great host and we enjoyed talking to her three lovely children. We made a couple of suggestions for minor improvements and these had been put in place before we reached home which just goes to show how keen the owners are to ensure that their guests have the best possible experience at The Larches.

“Lovely location”
Reviewed September 15, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

The host family were friendly and welcoming. The property is up a very steep drive, but this means that you get a good view of the hills all around. The cabin was "small but perfectly formed" and included all you would need for a short break. Church Stretton has a good choice of cafes/pubs/wine bars, plus a couple of Take Away Chinese/Indian/Fish and Chips. Plenty of hill walking, although some not for the fainthearted!

Excellent ,great welcome from Sarah and family. High standard in the Chalet. The outside decking was very private and the coloured lighting system could give you various moods . We have known CHURCH STRETTON for many years and the village and the surrounding area have wonderful areas for walking and other pursuits. We would love to return for a break again next year.

“Excellent holiday base in Shropshire”
Reviewed August 12, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

The Larches is excellent value for money and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others as a place to stay. Although it is only one room as it is so cleverly designed and well equipped, it feels much bigger. It's in an excellent and peaceful location amongst the trees with views of the hills and the decked balcony outside is an extra bonus which we made use of. I would definitely stay here again if I was visiting Shropshire.

“A touch of Switzerland.....”

We regularly travel through Church Stretton and often comment on what a pretty place it is so this time we decided to stay for a while and we are really glad that we did so.

The Larches is a well equipped, pretty log chalet in the owner's garden but, notwithstanding it has its own privacy. A huge bed (albeit quite firm) and a well equipped kitchen and lounge area are combined with a private balcony with views over the Shropshire hills, what more could you want?

It's a short walk both to the train station and the town itself but the drive up to the house is very steep, something to bear in mind if you are not reasonably fit.

All in all, a great short break.
