We go here every year as it has everything it's stunning beach to beautiful views you will not be bored. We stay in the wigwams which are fantastic to sleep in with your fire pit made of stones right outside your wigwam and table and chairs parking right next to wigwam also. Lovely cafe now opened and its yummy home made cakes are delicious shop on site which is reasonable priced to. Plenty to do here in Gairloch from boat trips to fishing to walks and bikes etc etc this place is a must a lovely park on site for kids to. The cooking kitchen and shower blocks are very clean also

Room Tip: Anywhere you stay on park is good and also Highland Gathering in summer is great time to go

We visited Sands last week and thoroughly enjoyed it, from the friendly staff, easy booking and well stocked shop to the exhilarating views and gorgeous beach.

It was most relaxing and great to explore the surrounding areas, even the short burst of rain didn't sway us from planning our return next year.

The beach is fantastic for all including pets, lots of kite flying, bathing, swimming and general playing.

The site itself is well kept and offers lots of facilities, the only downside I found was the showers, there were plenty of them and the water was lovely and warm, however they are push to operate and only last for 5 seconds at a time, it would be nice if they would last a bit longer, I found myself having to hold the button in just to rinse my hair, this was not ideal.

I recommend visiting the National Trust Corrieshalloch Gorge on-route to Ullapool, not for the feint hearted it is breath-taking to say the least, also just a short drive is Red Point, the beach here is secluded and gorgeous, we also followed a path along the cliff edge, meeting up with another sandy beach.

I would highly recommend this campsite to all, it is a true gem.

We visited Sands caravan park late July and stayed in the Wigwams for a couple of nights on a road trip around Scotland. The Wigwams were a good size, warm and dry. There is a kettle and heater provided, with four power points for all those modern day gadgets.

We were 100 yards from the shower block/cooking area. The shower block was big with plenty of warm shower cubicles. The site also has a well equipped shop for all those bits and bobs you may need.

The beach was a short walk over sand dunes, with clear sea water and stunning views of the mountains on the left hand side.

Only one problem, the midges! An absolute nightmare, so come well prepared for them.

This campsite is wonderfully situated on the seafront at Big Sands in Gairloch , you can push the tent pegs into the ground with your hands .

The beach is lovley and unspoiled with wonderful views of the Torridon mountains ,and Longa island .

The static caravans for rent are beautiful and very well appointed , i recommend a trip out to the lighthouse along a very exciting clifftop single track road ,but its well worth it for the views of the minch and Hebrides.

Gairloch itself has a few good eating places notably the old inn ,lovely food and good beer , its a handy base for visits to applecross ,ullapool and torridon , now that i am writing this review i realise its too long since i visited this great place,

The road as you head to Gairloch is an area of outstanding view and scenery. Entering the Gairloch community you are met with a lovely pier, further on you pass through a number of small hamlets with a good selection of shops. Sands Caravan and Camping Park is a well carefor site, pleasant shop and reception staff who can't do enough for you. The toilet and showers are both plentiful and clean, grass regularly cut, staff around the park regularly checking things out. The beach is lovely and offers great opportunities for swimmimg, canoeing and other water sports. The barn now offers breakfasts, snacks, and evening meals. We had mostly great weather with just a few days a bit unsettled, however we did have a minor earthquake early in the morning , but we knew nothing about it. A great holiday at this site.

The road to sands is breathtaking. From the moment you leave Inverness behind you enter a world of stunning scenery, each bend and hill gives you another amazing view.

The site itself is roughly 3 miles outside the village of Gairloch. With 55 acres of land you can have your choice of camp sites. The owners take a very laid back approach. On arrival we were given a map of the site with electric and water points clearly marked. The only rule we were given was that we had to leave at least 7 meters between neighbouring tents

You can choose between a pitch on the sand dunes, one in the valley or one up on the hill complete with views over the sea.

You access the beach through the sand dunes and although the climb is hard work it is well worth it, the beach is stunning!

There are 3 toilet blocks with showers around the site. Depending where you pitch up it may be a walk to the nearest one. That saying I couldn't fault them. The block nearest us was clearly the oldest one but had a family washroom and shower, was clean and well looked after. The one further away also had a dishwashing and cooking area complete with microwave, fridges and hotplate.

The shop stocks everything you will ever need and a load of stuff you never new you did! Reasonably priced, but be quick if you want milk!

A new and lovely addition to the site is a cafe. The menu wasnt large but the Food was well prepared, fairly priced and tasty. Be warned you will probably need to book for dinner to avoid disappointment.

Only down side were the midges, cleggs and mosquitoes and I can't blame the staff or site for them!!!! Take plenty of repelant you will need it.

Very impressed with facilities, the shower block was very modern and clean. The shop stocked everything you could ever possibly want or need and then some! The location was stunning, with great beach access and amazing views in all directions. This was our first time camping and we have started at the top, there is no way anywhere could be as good as Sands. Very relaxed when booking, got to choose our pitch. Difficult to choose but some pitches had amazing sea views and some were shelterd behind the dunes. Come prepared to battle midges.
