A recent family weekend away...
From looking at the hotel's website we had booked the luxury suite. This rooms is decorated to modern standards with an annexe. The annexe had a sofa bed and additional TV with views over looking the loch.
Dinner was had in the restuarant and we can definitely recommend the food here. Service was prompt and orderly with food arriving quickly. The children's chicken and chips was delicious - real chicken nuggets and freshly fried chips - thank you!
Our starters were substantial in size and food quality was good apart from the hair in my wife's salad :-( I had the lamb shank which was served with seasonal vegetables. Not may restuarants nowadays serve seasonal veg and this noce touch was certainly noted and well appreciated. The lamb was well cooked and deliciously tender, just fell off the bone. The goat's cheese pasta dish was again generous but the pasta was a little under-done and could have done with an extra 30 seconds in the boiling water.
Breakfast was a combination of buffet style and hot orders. The buffet breakfast was reasonable in selection. The porridge was very stodgy, almost like rice pudding! The cooked breakfast options are good though the scrambled eggs could have been improved on. They lacked regular stirring through cooking so there were orange bits in it which our toddler did not enjoy. Toast was served very quicky which meant it was cold by the time the hot food arrived - in our humble opinions we would have liked the toast with the hot food and possibly we should have just asked.
We would definitely recommend Myrtle Bank if visiting Gairloch.
