“excellent place to stay, fantastic food”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

This was an excellent place to stay, the location is amazing, looking out across the sea, the staff were all very helpful, and the food was amazing. The room was great, the hotel felt relaxed, wifi was good, couple of very good real ales. The place looked cared for, which is really nice to see. I've put this on the top of my list of places to stay if I'm anywhere near this area in the future. A real find!!

having stayed here on previous occasions gave the myrtle another visit, and just as before the welcome could not be faulted, the food is superb well prepared and good value for money. The rooms want for nothing good comfortable beds and very clean well looked after. The breakfast is unbelievable you will not require anything for lunch after sampling one of Sean's special breakfast's. evening meal's are also well worth a try the lamb shank delicious and believe me very filling. we stayed two night's and we will be back for more. p.s good real ale too

Room Tip: sea view room's fantastic view's across the loch to skye

We stayed here in September 2012. Having found the hotel by chance, we werent initially impressed - the outside suggests something very different from the actual experience.
The staff couldnt be more helpful. The rooms facing the front are better than those looking on the houses behind, but they are clean and well provisioned with tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits.
We had both dinner and breakfast there and the food was excellent. Portions are large, the local seafood platter was exceptional !
The sun lounge is a wonderful place to watch the sun (or rain) with a wee dram.
Really worthwhile place to stay if you are touring the highlands.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the sea (and the Isle of Skye !)

we stayed here for one night while we were heading south from orkney and loved the place! Everything was great, the big room, the food, friendly staff and epecially the view.
They have some gluten free food available which was great and we had our breakfast watching poroises out in the bay - i suppose the only regret was that we were only staying at the myrtle bank for one night but then its within range for a weekend away from Orkney so we will definately be back overall if your looking for a clean friendly hotel with great views and food then you wont go wrong here

Room Tip: the sea view rooms are certainly worth the extra

We had an enjoyable 1 night stay in this hotel in August 2012. The room was excellent with very comfortable, modern fittings and a superb sea-view. Our only complaint was that the mattress was uncomfortable and out of sync with the quality of the rest of the room. Breakfast was superb!!
Service for the dinner in the restaurant was a bit slow and erratic but food was fine.

We arrived at the Myrtle Bank Hotel at nearly 10pm, after a long day that began on Orkney. Greeted cheerfully, and asked if we needed a meal! No, we just enjoyed a wee dram in the darkened sunroom and decompressed. Perfect to watch the water and lights along the shore. The bar at the rear was doing good business, but our room was peaceful. Well supplied breakfast, would surely stay there again.

we stayed there for 2 nights. room was clean and nicely equipped. mattress was very good (we had a twin room). ensuite bathroom was clean and otherwise ok. good place to stay and eat in. didn't make a reservation for dinner as we wanted to eat out but once we recognised that prices for meals are everywhere more or less the same, we decided to return to our hotel to have dinner there. restaurant was already packed but they had made a reservation for us nonetheless to make sure that we can get a table. so that was a nice gesture, we think. breakfast was good too. so, this place is worth a stay. the only
minimum downside was that our room seemed to be locatated close to the kitchen but there were only a few noises which did stop at night (room on 1st floor, latest one on the right aisle, left side).
