This restaurant positioned on the "top" road through Gairloch and has magnificient views across the loch to Skye and also across to Torridon and Applecross. The restaurant itself is well set out, with good-sized tables and plenty of room between tables. There is also a separate large lounge with sofas, etc. We have eaten here before and as one of us is Vegan, we went in at lunchtime to order a table for the evening and discuss the dietary requirements. Donald, the owner, greeted us on arrival and when we asked what he could do Vegan-wise, he told us that all we needed to do when we came in that evening was to tell the waitress what the Vegan would like and, if he had the ingredients he would cook it - which was brilliant compared to the attitude of lots of other restaurants. As it happened, the choice was Cauliflower and Broccolli Curry. When this came it looked and tasted magnificient and Donald had added a side portion of Courgette Tempura - I almost turned Vegan there and then. Then my meal arrived - Home made Steak Pie. The menu had the word 'large' in brackets for this dish and when it came I could see why. It was huge, packed full of top quality meat, cooked to perfection, and the puff pastry topping mouthwatering. Both our meals were superb (and I will remain an ominvore). The restaurant offers local ales and a very reasonably priced wine selection. Donald is also to be applauded for employing staffed by young local people as waiters and waitresses and my only criticism, and it is a minor criticism, that they are a bit inexperienced, and could do with a bit more training, but I suppose that adds to the rural charm of the place. We will DEFINITELY eat here again on our next visit to the area.

We have been twice for breakfast this visit, it is so well made using the freshest local ingredients. The staff are very welcoming Donald the owner even gave my two girls a box of chocolates for being well behaved and polite. What a lovely gesture and they haven't stopped talking

On my first visit we had to wait for a table although the dining room was not full, the waiting staff had not cleared some of the tables! The second time, again the dining room was not full but we were told it would take about an hour to be seated as people were waiting in the lounge. I think there could be a more effective and efficient way of dealing with guests, also I think they are really understaffed as we had to ask for everying - a straw (three times), sauces, water glasses, etc, etc, etc.

Sorry you did not receive the service you should have. It had been very busy lately and sometimes the dining room appears half full but we are booked out later . We have had a few large groups in lately so we have to keep a slot for them . When it's a group we can't have any other orders until their main course is served . The girls are told to inform customers of the waiting time and either have a seat in the lounge or book for later .There are 3 staff on every evening in the restaurant so I will have a word with them .

Been twice this week and booked for tomorrow night.
Extensive menu at reasonable prices lunch and dinner.
Also wide range of healthy eating options on the children's menu, best I've seen. House wine is also very reasonable at £12.50 a bottle

had a wait to eat as we had not booked but spent it sitting at outdoor tables with a drink gazing at the Loch so this just added to the pleasure. The food was excellent with very fresh food well cooked and presented
