We found ourselves in this scenic corner of Scotland where even in August you are more likely to encounter sheep than people. The accommodation was great for two adults and three children and we had all the requirements for a very comfortable self catering stay including TV and a selection of DVDs. There is a short trail down to the beach and even in mid August we had the 2 mile beach to ourselves (shared with a few sheep). We were mesmerized by the view over the islands from our bedroom which changes every few minutes with different lighting from the clouds and sky. This place is build for photographers. The owners were very warm and helpful.
This is the perfect place to wake up in Wester Ross. The accommodation is comfortable, modern and well appointed, giving you a restful night and stress-free days. There is a gorgeous beach to explore very close by with magical waterfalls, wildlife and wide sandy stretches to walk, run, or just sit on. The views from the garden and apartment are stunning but if you need, you can be self-contained with a decent TV and wifi available if you need it. or just curl up in your own lounge with a good book. The kitchen is well-equipped and up to contemporary expectations. The hosts are generous, warm and welcoming: our stay here was quite wonderful and we are looking forward to a return to this gem of a place.
The accommodation was perfect for our needs, plenty of room for a family of 5 with tasteful and practical furnishings. The secluded spot provided us with a beautiful and quiet (i.e. no one else!) beach and magical sunsets overlooking Skye and Harris.
Shiskine is an incredible place. The house and apartment are beautiful: comfortable and well-finished with lovely furniture and light, airy decor. It has such a great atmosphere and is a fantastic place to spend time, whether socialising or enjoying the peace and tranquility.
The scenery and views from Shiskine are unrivalled. The simply breathtaking outlook to Skye and the Western Isles is stunning in all weathers.
Anyone lucky enough to stay in Shiskine will know that it is absolutely unforgettable and an incredibly hard place to leave. We will be back many times, I am certain.
Driving past sheep down a narrow picturesque single lane road is a perfect introduction to Shiskine. The house and the views are amazing.
Mark has brilliantly converted the whole top floor of the property into incredibly cosy and practical accommodation. The two bedrooms are of a good size with modern ensuites. The kitchen area is well stocked and the whole place feels spacious.
the views out of the windows (normal and velux) are the best! Looking over to Skye during the day and up at the stars at night.
You could spend days on end here simply doing nothing, just gazing at the wonderful view watching it change. And a walk on the beach can bring views of seals, whales etc.
Mark is the perfect host; kind, thoughtful and friendly.
Very very much recommended.
Shiskine is a great base to visit and explore the highlands. My boys (12 &15) and I travelled by train to Inverness from Fife, 3 hours. At Inverness we hired a car and it was an hours drive to beautiful Gairloch. Shiskine was a lovely spacious apartment to stay in with beautiful views of the sea. I loved the comfy beds and enjoyed relaxing with my boys. We also had wifi and board games so that boys could play playstation and be entertained. We chilled out and went for walks along the sandy beaches on our doorstep. We were lucky enough to see an otter on the beach and a seal pup. It is a photographers dream for wildlife and stunning scenery. From Shiskine we could the islands of Skye, Harris and Lewis. Mark the owner was always helpful and there if we needed him. We are coming back to in the Summer to use Shiskine as a base to visit Skye and explore the surroundings. A great family getaway if you love the outdoors and photography.
