We booked The Beaches at the very last minute and enjoyed a comfortable stay in Northumberland. We were welcomed warmly by our hosts and helped up to our room. There are beautiful walks near by and the beach is only 5 minutes from the B&B. Our room was comfortable and the bed was HUGE - even with a 6'2'' husband!!! We did miss having a shower, but there was plenty of hot water for a bath! Breakfast was wonderful - a good range of fruit, yogurt and cereals (fresh strawberries in February!!! Yum!) and a freshly prepared cooked breakfast to order! Definately set us up for the day ahead!
We visited during the low season, so were unable to enjoy dinner at The Beaches, but we did enjoy food at a local pub up the road.

The Beaches deserves its good reputation on this site on the whole. The welcome was warm and we were very grateful for an unexpected lift from the station by one of the owners. Throughout our stay, we were very well looked after, with a very flexible approach - for example we were allowed to keep our room into the afternoon at no cost.
Breakfast was very good indeed with a lovely mixture of fresh fruit and cooked food on offer; we also enjoyed our evening meal. With all these pluses, we would only comment that the accommodation is probably due a minor update. We found the lack of a shower in our room a problem and a lick of paint and a few minor repairs would improve this property. In a surprisingly expensive part of the world for a holiday, we felt we got average value for money.

Stayed here for a weeks holiday. We found the Beaches quaint and more importantly comfy. Large double bed and a bath not a shower which we prefered. The evening food was excellent and the breakfasts fantastic.
Alnmouth a great location to tour from made better by knowing you were coming back to this lovely hotel and the friendly hosts Donald and Susan

we've visited alnmouth a number of times, but this was our first stay at beaches. restaurant food is excellent, good value, especially as it is BYO. our room had a fantastic large bed, only downside was no shower. great breakfast and hospitality from the owners. they are a lovely couple.
had good food in the evening at the red lion and the hope and anchor too. both these pubs (like beaches) are very dog friendly

Northumberland is one of the UK's best secrets!
We visit twice a year and have a large dog so need to find accomodation that is clean, well positioned to explore Northumberland and accomodating to pets.
Many places that accomodate pets tend to be a bit scruffy. Not Beaches B&B in Alnmouth. The room we had cost £65 per night and was plenty big enough for my partner, myself and our large English Mastiff. We are also both over 6ft tall and were very pleased that the bed was a double king size too! The room is decorated and finished to a basic standard. It could do with a bit of tlc but is clean, well stocked and in an excellent location in Alnmouth. The couple who own it are attentive but discreet and cook a lovely breakfast.
If you have a dog I would highly recommend Beaches B&B.

We first discovered Beaches a few years ago, just by chance as the usual place we stayed was booked, so i searched on the internet for another hotel/B&B that would accomodate us and our dogs.
This B/B attracted me because it had a restaurant, great we wouldnt have to leave the dogs alone too long and we wouldnt be too far away.
When we arrived we had a fantastic welcome by the owner Donald, his wife Sue was busy cooking for the restaurant, our room was large and could easily accomodate us and the dogs, with a large kingsize bed and chaise long, not that the dogs slept there, but plenty of room for their beds too.
Our room was clean, clean towels and robes, tea/ coffee facilities, the bathroom could probably do with a makeover but l like that kind of shabby chic, and we had a bath, so at least you could have a good long soak after a hard days walking in the beautiful countryside.
We had dinner in the restaurant, where i have never experienced such value for money, 4 courses for £15, its a BYO but there is a small shop opposite that stocks a good selection of wine. The food is fantastic, mostly local, good fresh fish and meat, all served by our host, who is a fountain of local knowlegde, if you need to know anything, tide tables etc.
The small village of Alnmouth, is the most relaxing place to go , it has everything you need, apart from hordes of people, its quiet but has enough pubs, restaurants and tea shops to keep most people happy, and it almost makes you feel local.
This our now our third year of returning to the wide open expanse of Almouth beach, it is purely magical for us and i hope it is for anyone else going there.

We have just returned from a one night stay at the Beaches and having tried to book other accomodation with no luck we weren't sure what to expect but we were delighted! We had a double bedroom with ensuite facilities quite olde worldey but very comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding, fresh fruit including raspberries, strawberries followed by cereal with toast then a magnificent full english! We would highly recommend this place and will definately return soon. Tip for anyone visiting alnmouth there are no ATMs nearest one in Alnwick.
