We called in with friends who were visiting the area. Even though it was late for lunch- 2:30pm, there were still plenty of people dining. The bar area being full we had our sandwiches in the dining room. On the recommendation of the landlord I tried a pint of Tempest, a traditional hoppy bitter and very much to my taste. The crab sandwiches were a nice blend of white and brown crab meat on fresh bread, though I would have preferred them not to have contained salad- the accompanying salad and coleslaw on the plate would have been sufficient.
The service was very good- friendly staff who were obviously keen to please.
