We stayed for a 2 night mid-week "Stress-buster break" as advertised on their website. What a beautiful house this is! It doesn't feel like a hotel, more like someones family home that you havebeen lucky enough to be invited to share if only for a short time. We booked the room witha kingsize bed and what has to be the largest ensuite bathroom I have ever seen!!

The hosts, Suzie and Colin, are most welcoming and the food is superb. If you get chance to stay for dinner . . . .DO!! You won't be disappointed. Our grateful thanks for making our first wedding anniversary so special.

The owner Sue is one of those people that you hate saying goodbye to as just in a couple of days you feel very at home and relaxed and cared for. We had a very large comfortable, well-furnished bedroom overlooking the back garden and across the hall, a large bathroom to ourselves. Just loved sitting for breakfast at the dining room window looking across the back lawn and garden and watching the birds at the seed feeder and the squirrel sneaking some seed too. The breakfast choices were very good and beautifully cooked. Sue is proud and knowledgable of the area and helpful in pointing you in the right direction. We had arrived in the late afternoon after seeing Fountain Abbey and the next day took in Castle Howard and then York. We were there for two nights and the "pub dinner" recommendations at local establishments were very good. In no way could we fault this stay.

We stayed for two nights in the red room. It is very comfortable with a huge bed, a relaxing seating area and a large bathroom with bath and shower cubicle. The room has windows on 3 sides overlooking the garden and the countryside. The meals were very good - everything you could want for breakfast taken in the breakfast room which overlooks the garden where you can watch the birds and squirrels - delightful. Dinner was very nicely cooked and served in the dining room where there is a long shared table. There is a lovely open fire in the lounge which is good for pre-dinner drinks. The area is fantastic with lovely countryside, picturesque little villages and lots to see and do. We would love to return some time.

I will save time by endorsing everything the previous reviewer wrote. We really couldn’t find fault if we tried. We had a huge bedroom at the front of the house with an enormous en-suite bathroom. The main road through the village runs in front of the house, but it is perfectly quiet – and I am sensitive to road noise! There are also rooms at the back facing the attractive gardens.

We didn’t see or hear anything from ‘Mr. Newburgh Guest House’ but Suzie was very friendly and attentive. We had the four course dinner, but it was so generous that we could easily have managed with the two course supper. The breakfast choice was extensive and excellent.
