“First class customer service”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

We booked at The Fauconberg for an Autumn break of 4 days, having been encouraged by feedback on this site and in The Good Pub Guide. From the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble for hosts Simon & Helen, and in addition to showing a daily presence (rare these days) they also have a "can do" attitude (even rarer!)

The accommodation, food & real ales were absolutely excellent, and it is no wonder that this establishment is popular with both locals & guests alike. When we return to North Yorkshire, we will certainly stay there again. Fantastic customer service.

Stayed on a Group on deal so wasn't expecting anything special. We were bowled over from the moment we arrived. Friendly welcome, room was lovely with plenty of character. We ate in the bar that evening and had one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Breakfast the next day was also hearty. I cannot praise the owner and all staff highly enough. We were made to feel really at home by everyone. We jokingly said we would take their dog Bramble on our walk the following day - the owner said please do and we had a great days walk. Pity we didn't follow the dog all the time as she knew the way better than us!
An excellent experience. Thank you - we will be back.

My wife and I selected this location since Coxwold is relatively central location for day trips to both the moors and the dales. We had a large ensuite room for 3 days which was very comfortable. We also note that the food is excellent, and the staff provides excellent service, and good practical advice on places to visit and roads to use. The facilities are well maintained: there was plenty of hot water, all the plumbing worked, there was good heating, and the bed was comfortable. The owner was actively present, and has assembled a hard-working, friendly staff.

I've never felt compelled to write a review on trip advisor before, until I stayed at The Fauconberg Arms! We stayed here the night of our wedding, with the grooms party staying the night before as well and we couldn't have been happier with how attentive, accommodating and friendly all of the team were. We loved the rooms, the food and the hospitality at the bar! 25 of our wedding party ate Sunday lunch the day after the wedding as well and all thoroughly enjoyed it. It was so great to have friends/family who had travelled all over the country have a postive experience as well.

We got engaged here many years ago, so thought it would be good to spend a couple of nights while in the area. Naturally, it has changed considerably over nearly 40 years - but not unrecognisably so, as there is a limit to how much a 17th century inn can change.

In many ways, it was for the better. Our room was a superior one, with four-poster bed, and of course en suite - very different to 40 years ago! The restaurant hasn't changed much, except that the food seemed even better than before.

Simon & Helen (and family!) were extremely friendly and welcoming (both to us and our dog), and Simon produced some splendid meals.

It is particularly good value during the week, at £110 for a superior room and dinner (plus an excellent breakfast).

A lovely place to stay, in what must be one of the prettiest villages in the area. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Probably worth spending an extra £20 for a superior room

This was our second visit to what feels like our "second home", the family, Helen, Simon, Chad and co (not forgetting Alex) make you feel so welcome and part of their family, the rooms are excellent, the food superb and the company make it a real treat to stay there. We love it so much we are planning a return visit early next year and taking some of our family members with us. I am sure they will enjoy the relaxing stay as much as we do.

Room Tip: We stayed both times in "Pinkerspond" a lovely bright airy welcoming room.

We have just returned after a 2 night stay at the Fauconberg, with 4 friends. We had gone to Yorkshire for a trip to Thirsk races & after trawling the internet for accomodation in Thirsk, we had to look further afield, as close hotels to the course were fully booked up.What a good move --we had a woderful time at this really lovely country pub. The location is in a lovely peaceful village & the pub itself is warm & homely, with lovely friendly staff-nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms were very comfortable & clean. We ate in the restaurant & bar on both nights. The food was really excellent & the breakfast hearty. We will definitely return for another long weekend soon. Thank you for making us all so welcome & "at home"
